I used and liked dr web trial version and kav trial version and liked them both. Which one would the forum recommend of these 2? Thanks!

What are your priorities in an AV? What is your current one and why are you looking to change? This might provide some insights.

My priorities are to are to choose the product that is updated frequently and provides the best protection against as many nasties as possible. It would compliment my ZA security suite 5.5.094 which I don't use the built in AV. I am in a home network and work from home and back up regularly as I have everything I need on my computer. I'am using DR WEB now and like it but am always looking....advice on one of these 2 for a home user?

If you are happy with DrWeb, why change a good thing? DrWebs protection quality is not in dispute on this site, or anywhere else.

    Hi,

If you are looking for the highest level of detection with hourly updates, you may want to look at Kaspersky AV. Here are some comparatives to help you out:

Why are you not using ZA's 'built-in' AV (which is CA's Vet engine)? I've been using it and it works great - updates daily and no virus has slipped through yet.

I don't have a reason and have not heard anything bad about ZA's built in AV product.....I haven't heard anything in fact about it.

Ive tried their Firewall/Antivirus program and it doesnt have many options to it sort of like a novice antivirus and doesnt have a good detection rate. I wouldnt recommend it, but that's me :D

Which (important) options in particular doesn't it have? And on what do you base your comment that "it doesn't have a good detection rate?

PC Magazine thought enough of it to give it its Editor's Choice award...

Both anyday over the Zonealarm suite also suggested, both have very frequent sig-updates (several a day). :)

Check the CA Vet engine here:http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/about/index.xml

It has done very well since Sept 1999. Most of it's failures are before that time.
It has a record of 21 passes 3 failures since above date. And since when did registration for VB100 become necessary?

Both are VERY good scanners, I'd recommend Dr.Web because it has a better heuristics engine.

It's now used and trusted by US enterprises more than any other AV!
