Both are excellent. I have never used kaspersky so I naturally would prefer the one I use. Avira has a very slightly better detection rate than kaspersky and I dont like the Ichecker techonology in KAV. Just because a file is clean now doesnt mean that it will be clean later.

Just curious, KAV is a paid for AV and Antivir is either paid or free so I was wondering if there is some difference in the paid and free versions of Avira to make a comparison with KAV ?

    Yes, mainly.

Yes, except Bitdefender and Nod they also have several FPs, I could see that, okay, Avira and DrWeb are at the top of FPs, but Bitdefender and Nod also have FPs.

I bet Norton and Kav are most reliable in not having FPs.

Yes and if you activate klif.sys your system slows down like a sumo ringer.

    So true true true.

    this forum is biased!
its simple, if you want 99% detection (or there abouts...) and ZERO false positives, norton still wins this.

i wouldnt say impossible, out of the two MASSIVE tests of av-comparatives in 2006, norton recieved zero false positives in both i think

i guess they try and do that because they know that alot of there customers dont know much about computers so they try to have no fp's
im not saying all the people that use it dont know much about computers.
im surprised kaspersky doesnt have fp's concidering they send out so many updates so fast:D

    anyway more about this thread.
you can make kav6.0 automated and no popups for the adverage home user by putting it basic mode or even uninstalling pdm sure the protection is less but you still get the fast signiture updates.

I wouldnt uninstall any of it. It is the best suite on the market and the reality is the most comprehensive.
