Yes, but these signatures are for the on demand scanner only. You`re always protected by the realtime signatures "in the cloud".

In addition, wouldn't it be a good idea to create a internet bot which downloads and examines files off the internet. Just by scanning the downloads at MDL your database would be up to date with alot of the latest malware.

OK I am using Eset smart security , can I install drivesentry with it or just the Eset antivirus? Cause the suite has a firewall too.

Yes you can install DriveSentry with Eset though it would be best to disable the AV in DS.
Running 2 av's is not a good idea.
DS does not have a firewall so definitely keep it with your Eset suite. :)

OK here comes one more

So I put of the real time scanner. But don't I need this to protect my PC ?
Or I just use DS as my HIPS and ESET for antivirus?
And how is the anti virus of DS ?

    DS has an AV.
Since you already have an av with Eset I'd just keep that one.
DS will still protect the rest of your system.

yep DS still protect very well with realtime scanning off, besides DS is known better and relies on its HIPS mostly anyways :thumb: so u shuld be good to go.

    Hi,
I'm trying out DriveSentry (3.3.0.4) for the first time. During installation it synchronized the database successfully. However, every time it starts up it displays the "Database Update" screen which prompts to "Select Start to complete this process..." After selecting Start, it always says the latest database updates are already installed. It runs fine otherwise.

Is this normal, or is there a way to disable these startup prompts? Does the purchased upgrade behave differently?

    Thanks in advance,
    d1hu

we already answered this in the other thread, its normal, once u buy it, u get automatic updates (which i think make the startup screen stop)

Nice to see some action in this thread. :)

Running DS on my Vista laptop, v.3.3.0.4
Best version I have tried and used.
The high memory usage is gone which was my biggest hangup with DS.
Running smooth and working so well.
Glad to be back again. :)

Katie, continue to keep us informed.

    Thanks, Dan

To be honest with you, I really like the Sandboxie/DriveSentry Combo. I think these 2 products work well together. I saw a post about installing DS and getting messed up with thinking SBIE was a AV. But I never encountered this on either pc, WinXP pro (sp3) or Vista Home (sp1).

Just curious 2good. What OS and versions of DS and Sandboxie. I have DS 3.3 and SBIE 3.34. I will tell you this, I had one BSOD and that was on the initial deleting of the sandbox and DS didn't register the SBIE command to delete its sandboxed files. The very next time I tried to delete the sandbox, DS gave me a popup for SBIE to allow the deleting of files. After that, not one BSOD. This was on my WinXP pro machine. I didn't experience this on the Vista one.

Sandboxie is also installed on my system, and I've had no problem running Avant Browser in it while using DriveSentry.

My Sandboxie delete command is set up to run a separate AutoHotKey script to do cleanup, and DriveSentry handles it smoothly, never a BSOD.

    XP Media Ctr SP3
    DriveSentry (3.3.0.4)
    Sandboxie (3.34)
    Avant Browser (11.7 Build 23)

Yes I forgot to mention one important thing. I was using IE v8 beta 2 with SBIE. This was on WinXP sp3 machine. On Vista I use FF 3.1 beta 3. It only happened once on the initial deleting of the Sandbox. That's why I think the BSOD occurred because DS was preventing SBIE from cleaning up. The 2nd time I tried it, DS popup happened and I allowed SBIE to delete it's sandbox.

I have heard that DriveSentry can be used along with other AV. Can DriveSentry be used with NIS 2009,PrevxEdge? Also GeSWall.
