    Hi Searching____

I have put suggestions forward for a simpler update process and suggested we have the current build and new build version numbers on the upgrade dialog to save confusion.

The forum and the website do not list the complete version number - all references are to 3.1 - but if you right click on the task tray icon and select 'about' you will find the complete version number - not a completely new release - but an update to the current release - a dot release.

DriveSentry will prompt you when a new version is available, as it checks the version you are using against the most recent version available from the website.

Note: there is no need to reboot when uninstalling or re-installing DriveSentry.

    thanks

    Kate :)

    Hi Mata7,

DriveSentry is compatible with the following Windows Operating Systems. It is not compatible with 64 bit versions of Vista.

Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (update 1) or later
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later
Windows 2003 Server with Service Pack 1 or later
Windows Vista 32 bit (all versions).

    Hope this helps,

    Kind regards,

    Kate.;)

    Hi There,

CheckMark Certification was achieved on the 23/01/2008 see the westcoast website for DriveSentry results.

We have never experienced problems with Outpost Security Suite 2009. Howevere, we generally do not recommend running DriveSentry with other AV products or security suites which take on some of the same roles, as this may cause conflicts. But please let me know if you have any problems.

    thanks Sportscubs1272

    kind regards,

    Kate :D

Katie: I've been a user of ThreatFire. But now that Symantec is buying PC Tools, the hand writing is on the wall. They will either kill it or absorb it (more likely absorb it since Antibot is not their's.) Either way, I'm looking for something similar. So, I came over here to ask, is DriveSentry close?

I'm on very slowwwwww dialup at home. Can DS work with slow dialup and not plug up my internet connectivity when it updates? (IOW, are the updates large or incremental?) Have all the issues reported about using DS with a Limited User accout been addressed? Any help you can give will be appreciated! :)

Would DriveSentry complement Online Armour (paid) and Antivir Premium or be overkill.

My PC doesn't go into standby automatically (after X mins) when DS is enabled.

However, if I shut down DS it works as normal.

This also happens on my daughter's PC as well. We have the same laptop, Celeron M 1.5Ghz.

It doesn't affect my son's PC - Pentium IV 3.0Ghz. His works as should with DS enabled.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Han,

DriveSentry, like Threatfire, uses behavioural technology but takes a slightly different approach. So yes DriveSentry is close. If you want me to send you a build containg the local DB (due to your slow internet connection), PM your email address and i will get this to you ASAP.

All limited user issues have been fixed, so there are no problems there. Updates work on a trickle feed basis, so when they come into our online DB they will trickle into your local DB, so you should not have any problems.

    thanks

    Kate.

    Hi Gh113,

DriveSentry does work with Online Armour and Antivir Premium and would compliment your security setup just great.

    thanks,

    Kate.

    Hyatt69,

May i ask what build you are using. I have just tried the exact same scenario and was asked for my password upon selecting any of the commands which appear when right clicking on the system tray icon?

    thanks

    Hi hyatt69,

I am using the same build and am not having this problem. Please could you go to the password option within the Options screen enter your old password and leave the second two text windows empty. This will remove your password protection.

Then shutdown DS and re-run it again. Go back to the password row in the options screen and create a new password and try this scenario again.

Also check that the password prompt is not showing up behind other windows, because this maybe a problem.

    thanks

    Kate. :)

    Hi Kate,

I installed DriveSentry last night but there appears to be a conflict with Antivir Premium as the web guard became disabled and wouldn't enable.

I have uninstalled DriveSentry for the time being pending a patched release.

Sandboxie has know compatibility issues with a number of programs. We also do not recommend installing DS whilse running other security apps. Try shutting down all other security apps on installation of DS.

    thanks

    Hello Katie,

Trjam, aigle and others were testing some security apps with Zemana security test tools. I gave DS a run for fun. Here, toward bottom
I'm learning more and more around here. Those guys are pretty cool.

    Thought you might be interested,

This problem started with DriveSentry 3.1. I tested 3.0 in the past with Sandboxie and never encountered those BSOD errors but they did start after 3.1. The BSOD error I got when I tested was linked to NTFS.sys. Don't know if there was a major change in struction in either DriveSentry or Sandboxie that causes this though. Also that error is never just when you delete the sandbox, I would encounter them randomly, sometimes just when launching the browser.

I removed DS right after getting those BSOD errors.

Another thing I didn't like with 3.1 and its manual download of signatures is that it doesn't keep track of what signatures it has already installed and when you syncronize, it downloads all of them again (they are pretty big).
