RegCure? That a-wee-bit-rogueish-app from our beloved Paretologic??

IMHO anyhting from them deserves to NOT be trusted. One of SiteAdvisor's top reviewers, dean, has some interesting comments about this site/software/company involved.

Well, clicking your link looks green to me. Also I've never had anything but good things with the software. Been using it for quite some time now. During that period, I've been testing/trying lots of AV's and NONE of them say anything bad about RegCure.

    Cheers

I DID say read dean's review(s), I did not refer to the colour of ranking.

Anyone who have paid any attention to the situation at SA would know that currently they do have some serious issues with their rating system.

    Examples:

Sadly not all that glitters is gold, be it from McAfee or Paretologic... Now enough with the thread hijacking. Suffice to say, if it's from Paretologic, let their reputation speak for them.

Is there an explanation somewhere on what these various zones like "Low Restricted" mean ?

Doesn't it say on the popup that applications which are "Low Restricted" have a heuristically calculated high safety rating?
And "High Restricted" have a low safety rating

different popup, first there's a popup where you have to choose between deleting and skipping, if you choose delete you will be asked wether to attempt an activie disinfection or delete now (or on the normal boot if not possible)

wow, it's still better then norton where it would be automatically deleted (oh sorry "quarantined") without the user even noticing (unless you look at the right edge of the screen 24 hours a day)

Imagine what would have happened the day that kaspersky wrongly detected explorer.exe as a worm if it had behaved like that...
I mean, not everyone knows how to restore a file from the backup and run it through task manager....

I think it's not so difficult to restore a file deleted or desinfected in the new version 2009

Just buttom "Detected" then go to Desinfected or Quarantined group, select the file and left buttom -> Restore

    Regards.

Before anyone gets too chirpy when comparing with Norton please note that there is an Interactive mode; user notified by popup and needs to make decision AND Automatic mode; Kaspersky automaically takes the recommended action (from Kaspersky) unless it is a really difficult issue and there is no recommendation (does not happen often).

You select the one you want on installl but can change the setting from within the application settings. KIS 2009 is pretty much silent on Interactive due to the way that it works; Emulator, white listing, advanced heuristics, etc., and even quieter in Automatics mode.

    Perfect!:D

I don't get it. You say there is no need for discussions about beta products but you point to another thread you started about a bug in the same exact version. Unless it was sarcastic?

It's a moot point now anyway since the problem you mentioned has been resolved.

I'm getting a warning that the beta license for the KAV technical release is going to expire. I've tried entering a valid license for KAV 7, but the program says it will only accept a beta license which I thought was not the case. Am I just going about this the wrong way?
