This sounds great! :) Has anyone tried this latest release while running Ad Muncher? Any special tweaks that need to be made? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I have been running KIS 2009 (minus anti-banner) plus Admuncher 4.72 release without changing any settings, all runs fine.

However, you may notice that Admuncher is placed into "Low restricted" HIPS group as (the newest version) does not yet exist in the trusted apps database, so you will probably have to move Admunch.exe into the trusted zone to stop KIS asking questions about it modifying reg values etc. After that it runs fine :)

True but, This is what Kaspersky 7.0 help says about scanning files by extension

But opening a txt will not execute the virus... as long as its a *.txt, You'll just see random characters when you open it. It will not infect you if its a malware renamed as a .txt file. It will only infect you if its renamed to a *.exe and then executed (but of course, renameing it to .exe will result in it being scanned by Kaspersky's FileAV :))

Ah ok then, it's alright. But since it is detected when executed, and not when scanned, if you want to transfer the file to someone else that cannot detect the virus, it becomes a virus for it. But I guess that the important thing is that you're safe.https://www.wilderssecurity.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

It will only be malicious if its changed back to a *.exe. If it is a txt, you can open it without getting infected. Its innocent as long as the extension is a .exe

Yeah, I think I'll check out some different settings just to see how things go. Like you said, I can always change them back. I'm running my first full system scan as I type this. I can't tell the scan is running. So far KIS 2009 is pretty impressive.

I installed it today... browsing is noticeably faster when compared to 7.0, would even say blazing fast, even with settings maxed out.. and it wasn't even all that slow on 7.0 for me.

Then again I do have a quad core processor and 3 gigs of memory.

I'm not sure what to think of the GUI... it's different that's for sure.

As I get used to it, I'm sure I'll like it more.

I will say that I like the vulnerability scan, very nice touch!

    Initial thoughts are quite positive.

I found I find myself clicking on the bottom for detected threats more then anything.:cautious:

It pretty much is set it and forget it. I did change to scan only new and changed files after the first full scan and it takes about as long to scan now as to sneeze.;)

    Hi,

Can I request to post more screenshot of this release ?

Usually every two hours, but this can be changed based on the previous update. For example, viruslab can set the next update to be much sooner in the event of a new outbreak or something similar. Instead of 2 hours, every 1 hour, or 45mins etc

While it is true a commercial key will work, please remember this product has not been officially released to purchase. It is available to download via the beta forum at KL, but you may wish to wait until it is released as final as there maybe a refreshed build by then.
