I always thought a security product was judged on how well it protected and detected.

I guess the major testing organizations will now have to add a third catagory.

    Detection>Removal>Kindness :-*

or instead of Gold, Silver and Bronze. We could now have Pulitzer, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

u didn't get the point. i don't care if kaspersky is the best or the worst. that's enough for me to know it's russian. maybe you've got no problem with russia.. but unfortunately me and my country have. it's a racism discussion that im speaking of . not a joke.. and i love my country. just like the way we in Iran can not enter the matousec.com.. they blocked us.

I do understand but, isnt that more origin related then vendor related. You are placing blame on those, just based on their geographic location instead of their philosophic beliefs. To me that is the worst kind of racism.

well in hindsight, malware writers have no boundaries. So I have no issues with a security vendor from another country, trying to keep malware from my computer, that may be created in my own country.

trjam let me give an example.. i don't know whether or not u ever heard the name of " sheed antivirus " it is an Antivirus with two engines including Avira n NOD32 . my countrymen CREATED it !! more fair to say they idiots have stolen the both avira and nod32 definitions and called it Sheed antivirus "the first iranian antivirus". although it's so powerful, no one in Iran uses it because we know it's not legal. and though even our government recommended it !!!

so how can i not be fair about a software created by the other countries..

Kaspersky may be situated in a very unfavorable country but their products are well respected for years and considering the level of eyes on their product, if there was anything fishy going on, someone would have already uncovered it by now. Don't you think?

I just don't use it because its paid only and because the way how they treated me in the past when i was beta testing their product since it was still prototype up to a finished product.
Their behavior was not something i've expected and it just wasn't nice...

I'm more likely to trust a foreign product. Some other country's government is not going to come mess with me. And having your info hacked from an online server is something that has no borders.

About 2004 or so kaspersky was very active here at wilders as possibly the first english forum where home users could get information on the use of their products . Now the kaspersky forum is very active . But back then Igor would spend much time here helping users with products including beta testing of new releases such as kaspersky Lite av. I remember there were even discusions about having wilders as kasperskys forum in the AV section. This was not to be as NOD was the AV chosen to be represented at that time by Paul . With Kaspersky discovering viruses especially lately and there port of sending .http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/08/09/net-us-cybersecurity-gauss-idUSBRE8780NJ20120809 , one can only expect more discrediting to an excellent security company.

First time I am reading about hating a nation in Wilders forum. People casting aspersions on Kaspersky security products because its owner is related to the Russian Govt. is simply amazing.

I do not know from which country these people are from. But I am reading news of this world for nearly half a century. And I have to say that ALL the governments of this world at some time or other indulge in nefarious activities - no one is clean. Why do you single out Russia? Read a detailed history of your own country & you will be ashamed at some point at the misdeeds of our forefathers. Just remember that we humans are basically predatory animals, and our civilisation serves to curb that instinct but cannot abolish it completely.

My request to the moderators is just close this thread & remove all traces of it from the forum. Wilders should not be the place to discuss nationalistic sentiments & hatreds.
