Switched to kaspersky Internet Security from Norton 360 [trial over on new machine; now trialling KIS7].
I have it in advanced mode and using the FW in Training mode with ProActiveDefence activated.
There are a shedload of prompts the majority of which are rather obscure!
Can anyone offer any tips on setting this up?
Should I just switch to Basic Mode [if I do what do I lose in functionality]?

Also is there any reason not to have Traffic Monitorring on all the time?

    Hi,

Kaspersky offers a lot of useful resources for beginners,
you just have to find them.

Now where do your prompts come from?
If they come from ProActiveDefence, there are a few settings which can cause a lot of prompts:
Application integrity control, see this post
    http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=36390&st=0&p=326977&#entry326977
and Intrusion into processes (invaders) and Window hooks
    http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=36390&st=0&p=378800&#entry378800

    What I do is:
    - activate Application Activity analyzer without Intrusion into processes (invaders) and Window hooks
    - activate Registry Guard
    - deactivate Application Integrity Control
With this setting there should be considerably less prompts.

Of course it would be more safe to acitivate all features, but if you like to do so it's maybe better to create a lot of rules in Application integrity control.
(explained in Application integrity control link)

Else you can manage your trusted applications

    and create exclusion masks
    http://www.kaspersky.com/support/kis7/proactive?qid=208279389

If you get many prompts from KIS firewall, just go to the rule settings, delete all auto generated rules and choose a profile or "Allow all" for a single application.
    Explained here: Rules for application

    Cheers
