K7 Products Unconditionally Free Until This Crisis Is Over Anouncement (Consumer / Android / Business) A Message From Our Founder K7 Security Website
30th of April? That's like a demo which every other company offers. K7 has the most FPs I have personally experienced in any AV
No you get a free license until the end of the Corona pandemic. Now until April 30. I tried it for one scan and deleted it, it found its own file a Trojan...
So nothing has changed since 2 years when I tried it, an FP craziness! Every time I would email support they just say we will whitelist those filesa but then I got tired of it.
A few years back, I used K7 for several months. They always replied courteously to my customer requests re FPs etc, but never took any action.
This is from the confirmation email. Unless they extend the offer, it's no different to the trial period. However, time will tell if they do so.
For the sake of the argument I have followed the protocol for this offer and after giving an email address you get a set of instructions with a serial number to activate the product. In the same window there is the possibility to try before buying. Now why would they give you a serial number when you could trial the product instead? I did not proceed with the installation as I am not interested in this product free or paid, but the offer seems genuine, and it scored well in the latest AV-TEST (top product award, and 1 FP).
This is real offer...actually I'm not using any AV but in last few years I've installed only this AV apps to check it for longer time - Huorong, WiseVectorX and K7. K7 needs in fact some users data to create account and to register the instance but there are common data like in other not only security apps. It looks fully featured IS with firewall, AV engine, anti-spam, parental controll, surf/browser protection, privat data protection, etc. and two proactive protections modules HIPS called "System Monitor" Behavioral Blocker called "Carnivore" A few screenshots below
It's one of the lightest antiviruses there is, but in terms of protection is does not do quite as well at the big name antiviruses. But it's not too far behind, so it's far from terrible.
@ichito & @roger_m -- Thanks for the comments. I admire that K7 paid to be included in AV-Comparatives (AV-C) testing quite a while back, when K7's performance looked really poor when placed alongside the top tier AVs. Instead of withdrawing from testing (as some low-performing AVs have done), K7 stayed with AV-C and evidently did what was necessary to improve its performance. Gradually K7 improved until, as of now, its results at AV-C are very closely comparable to the top tier AVs. I applaud K7 for staying with testing. K7 has fortitude!
One of the malware testers at MalwareTips is using it as his main antivirus and is happy with it. https://malwaretips.com/threads/best-indian-antivirus-company.92612/post-853235 It may not be the best antivirus, but at least it is improving.
