    Congratulations Cindy. You succeeded. [IMG]
Thanks for the beer. Cheers. [IMG]

The blurry border was done following Brad's technique. Now when you select the rectangle, you can also change the form of the selection. Select a circle, a star, an oval or any available form to make your selection.
Use the dropdown list to make the selection.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll post a screenshot. ;)

    Already finished it. LOL
That's OK. You selected the color you can use now, but clicking OK doesn't change the color of your border. It needs something extra. :)

Try it and see if you can get it done. ;)

Not quite sure why it looks so scratchy.
I had to keep clicking around the border for it to fill in. Is that right??

That's because it already had a several colors inside the border, so the fill tool will not work on the entire area, only on small parts of the same color.
However you can use the paintbrush to change the color rapidly. :)
It's a great try and it will get better the more you practice and learn. ;)

Time to try the freehand tool Cindy....looks like a lasso.
Select an area and invert if you want and apply an effect...

    It's a funny guy, so I gave it a shot. :D
Oh Brad, Cindy, instead of making the selection with the rectangle, you can also use Selections > Select all
and afterwards Selections > Modify > Contract (choose the pixels)
When done, invert the selection and you also got your marching ants frame.
It's just another way of doing it and it's more precise. ;)

Maybe using the Smart Edge, instead of the Freehand selection will give you better results. ;)

No, take any picture you like. It works everytime.
And there's also a neat trick to make a new picture using this technique, but that's for later. ;)

    o_O You've lost me too there. :D

Steps to follow to make a precise rectangular selection:
    1. Take a picture
    2. Go to Selections and choose Select All
    3. Return to Selections and choose Modify > Contract (choose the pixels)
    4. Return again to Selections and choose Invert
    5. Now you've got the marching ants frame

Now you can apply the Effects, Adjustments, Filters, ...

    I hope this helps. ;)

    Looks little funky.
    (I used the kaleidoscope effect~
tried to put a small frame between the kaleidoscope and the pic........
    couldn't figure it out http://tcwozere.co.uk/smileys/scratchhead.gif )

Probably, need to learn to control myself a bit with all these toys, huh? LOL!!
Could end up with some crazy look'in picture if I'm not careful.

and to move it more to the left.

I was just surprised it turned out that good [IMG]

OK...I'll stop and wait to learn something now

    You got it Cindy. [IMG]
    I don't mind. [IMG]
It's great, you now know how to apply a simple border.
About the frame you'll learn it in time. For now lets keep it simple. :)
You can also apply the other selections, like a rounded rectangle, circle, star, ....
It's easy to get lost using all those toys. Once you start you never know where it ends. :D

Nice, although you could make a marching ants frame and applying the tube there.
Hey, Darwin lost a piece of his head. :( :D
Nope, it's preset so you can't change it. You'll have to find the same tube with a different color or make one yourself (that's for later :) )
A bit to difficult to explain without confusing you more, although I made some errors on purpose. See if you can find it. ;)

And here's your next lesson on text.

Enjoy and have fun. :D ;)
