We just upgraded all our PC's to Windows 7 x64 and have an application that strictly uses Java. While users are running this app it completely freezes the users PC on random query's.

After much testing I've found that ESET Nod32 is the issue. With ESET uninstalled computers don't freeze anymore and with it installed they do.

Getting rid of ESET is not an option i'm hopping someone knows a solution to fix this or could possibly direct me to ESET support.

    thanks!

Please generate a complete memory dump as per the instructions here when the system freezes. When done, compress it, upload it to a safe location and PM me the download link. I have a suspicion that this could be caused by a bug in Windows Filtering Platform.

It is only, in general, that "new" members cannot use it immediately. You can now; I got your test reply ;)

I leave you further in the very capable hands of Marcos.

    Hello,

In North America, you can reach ESET toll-free at +1 (866) 343-3738.

Under Protocol filtering setup, there's a list allowing for excluding communications with the given IP addresses. Does excluding the IP address of the computer you communicate with from protocol filtering help?

I've added the app to the HTTP, HTTPS address management list to exclude it from filtering.
Also under protocol filtering - Excluded Applications i've checked off Java in the list to exclude from protocol filtering.

However it still completely froze the application.

While you said the application was a "web app", I do know that Java has a cache folder under the user profiles. Have you tried excluding that on a test system/profile and see if it helps?

    It's usually located at: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache

We have eventually found out that the issue is caused by a bug in Windows Filtering Platform. Installing this MS hotfix should solve it.
