[Summary NortonIS appears to be conflicting with TI9]

Well this weekend i've actually sat down and approached TI9 incramentally trying to identify where its falling over for me.

Using my test rig gave it a simple setup of 2x 200gb Maxtor 10 drives both SATA and both NTFS.

    0. Formatted Primary Drive (Brand new)
    1. Installed Windows XP Pro (INC SP2)
    2. Installed Mobo Drivers, network Drivers , gfx drivers etc latest versions. Including flash to latest Bios for Mobo ( ASUS A8N SLI).
    3. Installed TI9.
    4. Backed up primary HDD to secondary drive.
    5. Checked Archive - PASS : Plug Archive - PASS (inc file recovery) : Restore Acrhive - PASS.
    6. Patched Windows with all critical updates.
    7. Repeated Steps 4 + 5 - All PASS.
    8. Installed Norton Internet Security (Firewall + Norton Anti Virus) and patched up.
    9. Backed up Primary HDD.
    10. Checked Archive - FAIL : Plug Archive - PASS (inc file recovery) : Restore Archive - NOT DONE.
    11. Disabled NAV and NIS - Repeated steps 9 + 10 - Same result FAIL.
    12. Uninstalled NIS Completely.
13 Checked Archive produced in step 9 - FAIL - same thing
14 Backed up primary HDD again without NIS installed.
15 Checked Archive - FAIL : Plug Archive - PASS (inc file recovery) : Restore Acrhive - FAIL.

I've installed loads of stuff now and can't be bothered testing further - Ideally I should reinstall a clean TI9 image prior to installing NIS and try that but I've had enough now and i'm gonna play some games ;).

So it seems like installing NIS caused TI9 to start creating corrupt backups? even unistalling NIS didn't change anything so possibly its a registry entry that NIS makes that NIS doesn't change back when it unistalls.

Anyone found TI9 to work ok with NIS2003?

Ack i've been forced to do what I said i wasnt going to do - tried reinstalling NIS and during install PC kept blue screeening and wouldnt boot windows fully.

Actually used TI9 to get a working image up and running :p prior to NIS and games installs. What is the world coming to when you actually use TI9 to actually do what its supposed to do in the first place  .

i'll try it again now and see if i can install NIS and get a working backup.

Just tried it with NIS2005 (got a copy on my mobo CD - only 2 months updates though :( ) and it worked ok with that?

However i've had it report files as corrupt when trying to recover images only to work the second time around.

I give up - think i'll just get Ghost 10 and have done with it as this thing is way too delicate atm - maybe this time next year it will be worth using.

Thank you for using Acronis True Image.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Please make sure you are using the latest build of Acronis True Image 9.0 (the early builds contained errors, that were fixed in the latest).

    Thank you.

My experience with Norton Firewalls and Virus protection is that it has some nasty conflicts with several programs. I don’t know if it is a problem with TI products because I dumped Norton System Works a couple years ago, before I tried TI. I went to Zone Alarm and conflicts went away. Now all my programs run fine.

My introduction to TI was with version 8 this past April. TI8 has worked great! I tried a trial TI9, the build before 2289. I had a lot of problems with it. I downloaded 2289 and it seemed to work ok, but I had only 2 days left on the trial. Not sufficient time considering all the problems so many people are reporting. TI9 has some nice new features and I will probably upgrade eventually. But I am going to wait until it is more stable.
