LOL It must be catching BB

My poor wife went in to our kids school tonight to pick up cookie dough they had sold as a fundraiser. She comes out of the school and a women and her daughter are standing there, and asking if this is her car (never a good feeling). It seems she had backed into our car mangaling the front drivers fender, pushing it back far enough that if my wife tries to open the door it may bend that too. The women was very sorry, and I will give her credit...she stayed, when she could have ran (wow...there are good people in the world). I am making my wife deal with this tomorrow as she really needs to learn how to take care of this stuff. Pooor women has been in tears for 2 hours...and its not even her fault. I have had this car four 4 years and 6 days (car guy, I know this date better than my anniversary LOL), and I really though that I would get through without this one being hit. My last 2 cars were hit by other people a total of 5 times in 9 years. Thanks heaven we pay to insure ourselves in Canada. No dealing with other insurance companies. BTW....I say its catching because I own a Taurus like BeetleBoss too.

What a bummer..but nice to know there are decent people in the world who own up to their actions ...glad it was not too serious..The Wilder's Wrecker has been on Holiday bumping other bulls around the forum ever since his birthday..He could handle a Taurus for you..but not if it has two horns.:D

    LOL Guys!

That womens husband just called here and ask us to get some estimates because they MIGHT pay it themselves. Yea right. Canada switched to insuring ourselves to stop this kind of problem. They might pay, or after you get it fixed they dispute it, and there are no documents made. I am very thankful she stayed, but I cannot trust everyone. Especially from what I can see is around at least $700 in damage.

Give them the high estimate and get the cash from them first.

Hey thats a good plan!! I have tried 3 times to call them back in the last bit and thier phone is busy. I said I would call him back with our decision. Which was always no. I have a private company that deals only their own insurance, and has always been top notch, and fast. It costs a little more ....BUT...The other people have insurance through a bank ..... their about to find out why its so much cheaper. Hours waiting on the phone, their claims adjuster taking a week to come out to look at their van. I can tell you that I was never a fan of the government of the early 90's, but I always applauded them on making the decision of having people insure themselves. For those that don't know much about Canadian Insurance. You pay to insure a vehicle. You pick your deductables, pay the yearly fee and thats it. If you have an accident...lets say in my case, I go down the street one block to the claims office, tell them I was in an accident, they say pick a place to get it fixed, and thats it. They can choose to replace your car, or wrangle that you are having your car bettered out of the deal...you know if it old, and your getting a whole body job, they can have you pay part of it. Or once they just offered me money to fix it myself (settlement). OHHH COOLL. I just noticed we are under a Tornado watch. Maybe the car will be sucked away!!

Well I hope whatever happens, you come out good on the car. It's kind of unusual to have a tornado watch that far north isn't it, especially this time of year?

Can you take a picture of the car so we can see what kind of damage there is? It doesn't take much for $700.00.

I could take a picture, but I do not have a digital camera so it might take a while before I can post it.

:D Mikel: Ask BB if you can borrow her tank while your car is being repaired. I am also glad that no one was hurt except the car. What you have described sounds like what we refer to as "no fault" insurance. This did not prove to be so good as the insurance companies wanted to jack the price of insurance through the roof. I hope this is not the case in your situation.

    Thanks
    Wildman

Yes it is no fault. And Ontario is expensive to insure. My wife and I pay around $1000 per year for both of us. In Toronto it would be about $2500. The only benefit is that when you are in an accident there's less headaches. Some provinces actually have their own insurance provided by the goverment.

The estimate was $1600 (for a fender??), and the insurance company is paying the whole lot.

This story gets stranger. My friend at work comes in this morning and starts talking about his sister-in-law calling his wife whining about hitting this women at the school. I started to laugh and asked her name. Same woman, same van. Seems though that unlike what she said, about being her first accident is bull. She just had one a few years ago, and her husband has had several. No wonder she wanted to do a payoff. My buddy says that when they teach defensive driving, and warn you to watch out for offense drivers...well shes the one their talking about. Anyways hopefully all will be handled in due time.

    Its my fault!! .... [IMG]

    What did I do??.....[IMG]

Doesn't take much for it to add up, huh?? And remember, thats just an estimate!! Could be more damage than that once they start working on it. Just make sure they fix anything that could've been damaged. As I told Kerry in the email....this is your one and only chance to get $$$ out of them.

And go for getting that rental car!!

And tell them, Kerry needs a brand new rental car...
like a 2006 shiney, red corvette. http://bestsmileys.com/cars/23.gif That'll lift her spirits!! [IMG]

And the neck injury......don't forget the neck injury!! [IMG]

Oh yeah, she wasn't in the car....[IMG] We'll save that one for next time, I guess.

OK Mike, http://bestsmileys.com/anxious/4.gif your job, as the supporting hubby.....is to let her cry for as long as she wants to. Agree with her that this whole system is all screwed.....and that life isn't fair.......and that you know it wasn't her fault.....and that the world is coming to an end because her car is messed up.....and MOST IMPORTANTLY, tell her whenever she needs to hear it...

"Yes, Dear, you are wonderful, we'll make it through this just fine, everything will be alright,
    and sure!!
Dear let's go out to eat whereever you'd like!"[IMG]

Now it really is BeetleBoss's fault!!

I have checked my email. Theres a letter titled....NOT FOR YOU MIKE.... THIS IS FOR YOUR WIFE.

Sooo. My wife sits down, and theres giggling and laughing, and she starts typing feverishly...for quite a while. After she is done I ask whats that all about. My wife gently taps my face and says Cindy doesn't understand you either. Story of my life!! Women:doubt:

Mikel: Don't try and understand them, it just messes up your mind. Just say yes dear and no dear, and hope to heck you are saying it at the correct places and time. The dinner looks good, don't forget you get to partake in it also, yes it's going to take a months salary to pay for it, but remember "yes dear" and "no dear". Talk to BJ, perhaps he can give you some advice in this area.

    Thanks
    Wildman
