I keep getting this Error number: 0x8007041D whenevr I try to use micrsoft update. Micrsoft says that it is a problem with the NOD and I need the latest version. Well I've downloaded that latest version and I'm still getting this error message.

Is there something else that needs to be fixed? Please help.

Could you try disabling the web protection module while running Windows Update? Maybe it's downloading a large archive that the web protection subsequently scans which takes some time and Windows Update times out in the mean time.

The document from Microsoft that recommend to upgrade nod32 is from 2005 and it says nod32 version 2.50.23 or earlier might cause this problem. So unless you used such an old version of nod32 that document isn't really accurate anymore. Using google i also found this could happen for a number of reasons.
