I am getting no sound when using a compiled ac97 audio driver from WDK 8.1's sample code in a Windows 7 (x86)/Windows Server 2003 (x86) VM ran using VirtualBox 6.0.20. I have noticed that there is a CIV is out of range error being mentioned in the debug output shown in WinDbg. I chatted with a developer who told me that its possibly an issue with its MAX_BDL_ENTRIES code. I am attaching the debug output that I get when changing DBG_DEFAULLT to DBG_ALL in the proper line of code found in its debug.h file.

    Hi @Zero3K

Im only replying because I noticed ac97 audio driver in the topic title and that is been one of my issues time and again after reinstalling on my Windows 8.1 machines. Seems the audio drivers aren't the easiest (at least for me) to select for the right one that works. I use old Gateway asus motherboards and have had to download from INTEL site or Gateway and it's a hit n miss until the exact one syncs with the system and returns audio/sounds again.

Since then after finding the right drivers I now manually backup and save those to a USB Flash Drive so that after reinstalling Windows 8.1 its a much easier process than combing the various internet hardware audio drivers sites and thus having to download as many as can be found then test each one until the right one matches.

If it's of any help that's my two cents worth. Regards, EASTER

The official driver works. I just want this to work so its source code can be included with ReactOS.
