is winrar a legit zip/rar application?

    ive just started to mod arma2 (a pc game) and it requires to extract stuff etc etc, and ive been using winrar to do that.

    but my question is is winrar a safe/legit app?

    Assuming it was legitimately acquired from RARLAB or one of it's distributors / dealers, yes.

    It's been around for nearly 20 years, and I've been using it for at least 10. It has to be clean. Even if it's not purchased it will work. With a nag screen though.

    If you don't have a legit licence for WinRAR. You might want to look at 7-zip, its open-source and can unpack almost all popular archives including RAR.
