I have an audio file (Windows Media file) and need to determine the creation date. There is a date that shows when I check the file's 'properties' but the date is not correct. Is there software that can determine the true creation date of a file?
MediaInfo if you only need to look at metadata. Change Date Time Batch if you need to change the NTFS dates.
data depends of used OS. windows save created, modified, access copying means created=modified=access, the old is gone.
If it's wma file you can check it's metadata. If it's not there and also not in general section (file system level) I doubt that you can find it anywhere else.
Thanks for the info. I did not know Karen Kenworthy's old site was still up and being maintained. It looks nice, actually pretty refreshing to see these sites that have been around for a long time. Man I am going to have to try Karen's Replicator again. It was such a smooth running program on XP.
I tried this one but it didn't recognize the file type which is a .WMA file. But thanks as this looks like useful software for some other purposes.
Well for what it's worth I finally found something that would read a WMA file : Windows Media ASF Viewer 9 Series https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12826 It hasn't been updated since 2003 but runs perfectly in compatibility mode.
