is there a free antivirus for ubuntu 10.10?

    Hi
    is there a free antivirus for ubuntu ?

    maybe with a database that include windows virus , and that could remove malware

    i'm looking for a free solution

    i know avast and avg have a linux version but don't know how good they are under ubuntu

    The scanner capability and the virus definitions of the avast linux version are the same as windows ones. Go ahead :)
    You know, linux antivirus for pc (not servers) are only on demand (generally).

    Yes. We, users, complained. But they want that way to generate more site traffic.

    Wow... Because a white message in the popup? :eek:
    You can even disable the whole popup...
    I can't see this as a reason for choosing an antivirus program...

    well
    do you know it started to use avast @ v2?
    i guess i have still the dos floppy disks

    now avast is very famous , but in the past the develop team take care about the clients , now they do what they want

    i don't like this

    Although not free Eset Nod32 for linux is excellent. There is a free trial available.

    I used ClamAV before but it's out of date normally. Besides that you should grab rkhunter and chkrootkit from the repo's as the majority of attacks (malware) on linux are rootkits.
