is spybot-search and destroy any good?

    That all depends on many factors. It may be good for some things and not for others.

    As others have said, it's more useful for it's immunization feature than it is as a scanner. It has a few other useful tools as well. But I can't remember the last time I actually tried to run a scan with it.

    I haven't used it in so long and considered it abandonware for a while. The new version looks bloated and IMO are better alternatives than this.

    Well if it does end up bloated (again), that would certainly kill it for me. I wouldn't consider it abandonware though. It's version # hasn't updated in awhile sure, but it has been getting regular def. & immunization updates. As long as they keep coming I'll probably hang onto this version.
