Sure, you mean the "http://info.prevx.com/supportpagew2.asp" page or some other arcane location?
You guys need a support system that allows your clients to interact in real time...

We had a realtime support system for a few months, but very very few people used it, so, we removed it.

However yes, we have received your message and responded (currently asking for a scan log if you haven't received the response yet ;))

I must say that I am very impressed with your (Prevx) willingness to help.

I have watched you on this forum many times, you always seem very professional, courteous, kind and always willing to go the extra mile. Out of the ethic of reciprocity alone, you will get many loyal users. It's great to see someone so willing to be helpful, that is a rare occurrence these days I am sad to say.

Best wishes to you and to the success of your product. :thumb:

    Thruthseeker,

I have often supported PREVX for a range of reasons, but I also agree, they do a great job...

    Way to go! :thumb:

However their handling of pre sale information on their lack of support for X64 is dismal at best! (Perhaps blame Microsoft?)

Yes :( Our 64bit support is currently horrendous. We personally do not blame Microsoft as their 64bit changes are actually very smart and for the good of the internet.

PatchGuard to prevent rootkits is a great technology and requiring cross-signed drivers from Microsoft is another really great way to prevent rootkits.

However, these technologies don't bode well with antivirus vendors who are trying to do similar things, which is why every vendor has to basically rewrite their software for 64bit.

We ARE, however, working on improving this. The only reason why we don't have a product out for it yet is because there are so few 64bit users out in the world compared to 32 bit.

Our mentality is that as soon as we get the 32bit version as stable as possible, we will start working full-time on getting a 64bit release out.

Sorry for the obvious inconvenience this is causing some of you :( !

    Hey Thanks PREVX Help!
Nice of you to have answered so swiftly to all my questions, and even taken a bit of criticism from me which in no way reflects poorly on the product as I have often found viruses and root kits using PREVX's products that the other guys missed altogether for up to several weeks even months...

As for the 64 bit issues and patch guard in particular, I agree with you on all count except one, as however X64 being limited in distribution is in no way excusable for security software makers to sell the product when it is unable to support it or knowing it will fail to perform as intended... :cautious: Lack of support should be clearly stated whenever it exists, and prior to purchase...

Every person, every business, every organisation has room for improvement, and even the Fortune 500, or Fortune 100, or even top 10 business' in the world, have a lot of room for improvement and have many people complaining about something that they could do better. So Prevx is no different. Nobody is perfect. And your constructive feedback is appreciated and considered by Prevx I am sure.

I completely agree that we had a failure to communicate the compatibility. Our website does not state "32 bit only" at all, which means that users could have easily fallen into thinking that CSI does support 64 bit (Prevx 2 does, however, support 64 bit).

The changes in version 3.0.0.120 of CSI will now prevent anyone from installing it into a 64bit system, so, this should stop a lot of confusion straight away.

I will get the web devs to change the website on Monday to state that CSI only supports 32bit.

If it's any consolation to leaving it for sale previously under 64bit, some aspects of the CSI removal process will work correctly under 64bit, but going forward, it is definitely safer to just stop all 64bit support until we actually make the required changes than to say we only "half" support it.

You know, this sort of acknowledgment, and prompt support is why I signed in to sell PREVX in the first place, I thought of it as such a powerful tool in my toolkit to fight malware I even pay for it and give it to clients who prepay for my services... I stand firm in that commitment it's a darn good product!

Just to make you smile: My current special on the product:

    Hey! That's a great deal :)

We are always working on improving ourselves in all fronts, and we definitely have some work to do to get everything as good as want it to be, but I think that we're moving in the right direction.

Forums like Wilders are a big benefit to software companies as they allow technologically savvy users to interface directly with the support people, rather than going through the normal channels where messages may get lost/sent in the wrong priority.

If you (or anyone) ever experience a delayed response to the inbox, feel free to PM me and I'll take care of it myself and scold the other support guys for not getting back to you fast enough! :)

Whoops, sorry about that GES/POR! Missed it :'(

I'm unable to reproduce this here, but it may be possible that you accidentally ended up with a Beta build, which could cause this to happen. I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling fresh.

(However, you will no longer be able to install on x64.)

Hope that helps. If not, let me know and I'll see what's going on with the update servers. It could also just be that you're receiving a cached response, but uninstalling/reinstalling from the website would be the fastest way to see what's going on.

Well, it would definitely not do any good. If you do want to just stick with the basic scanning, you may have to put up with the update pop ups as 64bit support is now officially suspended at the installation level.

However, we will keep you informed as our 64bit development progresses. There are just other things higher on the todo list at the moment but we will be dedicating a good chunk of time to getting 64bit to work natively.

You can count me in for a Beta tester when the time comes. The 2.0 version has done well for me. Cant wait to take the new version out for a spin and see what it will do. :D

If the new version still has Research Tracker, Program Monitor, and Pro mode I will be happy.

@Hermes: that atiodcli.exe looks interesting: there are legit forms of that filename all over the web, either that or there are a lot of ATI users with a rootkit..??
May I ask here as to current status?
How is that identified as a mal?
If I'm being more stupid than usual : be kind OK ;)
