What was dead? If you're referring to the "scare" users had about UTorrent, then it shouldn't be a dead and gone issue because it's a very real threat. Bittorrent owns them and Bittorrent offers legal downloading with the backing of the media organizations. So doing anything else with the program is highly dangerous unless you are using a separate IP Blocker. Other than that, not sure what you're referring to.

don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be seen dead in public without peergaurdian. I thought the uTorrent "scare" was virtually just that as nothing, AFAIK, has ever been proven, even so you have a good point in not giving them your complete trust .................. but then again if the enemy is the record and movie industry you shouldn't be trusting anything or anybody too much.

I just wanted to reply to some of the points mentioned in this thread:

-Peerguardian works fine with Comodo(any version), the people who have problems have a conflict caused by a different application/file version somewhere in their system. It might be an actual bug in either or both of the programs though.

-Peerguardian relies fully on your combination of blocklists to be effective.

-If you have made the right blocklist, and update frequently it will block connection attempts from known:
    -Anti P2P
    -Hackers
    -Fake-Seeders
    -Fake-Trackers
    -Botnets
    -Hacked computers

    My personal experience:
    Clients:
    -uTorrent (No blocklists)
    -Emule(Fake and ip blocklist, autoupdated)
    -Frostwire(No blocklists)

    The result is:
-Often unable to download fake/virus files, automatically leading me to download the real file.
    -Less hash failures
    -Slightly slower maximum speed
-Higher minimum speed, resulting in a lower download time overall.
-Download time lowered, in some cases over 50% faster download time, in other cases not faster(in the cases where the torrent did not have any fake peers anyway)
-Download time is never lower than without the blocklists

Be aware that the blocklist will block innocent users, but many of these are using a not-so-innocent isp.
