I really like Chrome. Except when it freezes and then reports that Macromedia Flash is non-responsive (Do you want to terminate it?). That is so frustrating that I'm blaming both!!

I've had problems with Aw, Snap! crashes on my XP box. It only did it on one of two XP boxes, at that, and has never happened on my Win 7 machine. But I will tolerate a glitch or two here or there in order to have Chrome's speed, security and pared down UI. ;)

Not just you. Chrome feels faster than other browsers.

So you choosing your car depending on the options it has to offer?

So your are choosing your wife depending on the add-ons (add-on nails, wig, false teeth, artficial hip, etc) she is capable of using

    Weird logic IMO

Kees, I hope you're joking but what has choosing a browser got to do with how one chooses a car or wife? That's a weird comparison.

What's more alarming, is that for some reason I get an image of a duck wearing false teeth and a wig.

Yes (joking) and Yes (weird comparison) based on the post that Berryracer prefers the browser with (in his opinion) the best add-ons.

Just carried away in thinking how he would buy his shoes based on the shoe laces available, his shirts because of the buttons, his pants because he liked the zipper, etc.

    same here.
i found IE 10 felt much faster than IE 9.

i don't chose my browser of choice based on speed alone.

No it's not. If i load the same addons(adblock, ghostery, fasterfox/fasterchrome etc.) in Firefox than it starts much slower and without addons i could use even IE9. Addons are the main reason i used Firefox and now i use Chrome. Another thing is if flash player crashes in Firefox than the whole browser freezes. In Chrome i can close the tab and open another to reaload the page. Flash player crashes a lot since the new protected mode implemented.

Yes I would buy shoes based on:

    1- They look good

2- They are comfortable to wear

3- They have good laces to accompany them I don't want some ugly looking laces on my shoes

    kthxbye

    You answered yourself.
YOU load addons - you cause the slowness.
It's not the browser that is slow, you made it slow.

Right. Besides, Narxis said that with his addons FF "starts much slower". I really don't care if it needs one or two seconds more to start. And FF crashes due to flash? I haven't had any but granted, I'm using Linux. The newest Flash version under Windows obviously caused problems which seem to be fixed in the meantime, though.

@TLU and @MRK (as true FF fans)

To what extend is the out of process enhancement/mitigation of FF moving on?

Any release date for firefox to facilitate LowRights (Appcontainer) tabs yet?

No concrete release date, AFAIK, but it's contained in the FF Security Roadmap.

I see no priority on sandboxing of content processes. What happened to electrolysis? They made Fennec multi process did not they?

based on my usage and my friends exprncs, if it helps anyone ...

The main problems with firefox i see when compared to chrome are
    1) Broser UI hangs when loading the content.
Probable Cause: Corrupted profile folder, more number of extensions
    Probable resolution:
-> Usually migrating to new profile and streamlining the extensions by removing unwanted ones will help to resolve the amount of hangs occur.
-> In my case, it is almost 5% to null in v13.
-> Migrating to new profile should be a lot easier as in recent firefox version, "reset firefox" functionality introduced.

    2) Longer shut down times or start up times
resolution: Creating new profile and streamlining extension usage fixed for my friend's machines.
if there are more processes are using cpu resources concurrently at the time of launching firefox, it is even effecting firefox start up times, there is research going on this area now..

    3) Overall browser slowness
Main Causes: Unwanted firefox extension being installed and activated withour user and firefox consent.
-> this should not be an issue anymore as extensions can be only be installed with user consent on newer firefox versions.
-> Also i think, addon leakages are being fixed as part of snappy project which is helping number of extensions being used.

But main advantage to me when using firefox over chrome are -
    1) i don't see any difference in page load times as i am in fast internet connection. Though it should help for users on slow internet connection due to pre-rendering in chrome (i like the idea..its a cool thing..) And at times i feel firefox being faster at loading pages...but i really cant identify unless i start using it with a stop watch ;)

    2) I see occasional blank page loads in chrome (using my machine or my friend's), am not sure why..
