Is Frederic still missing? Im wondering if LnS is ever going to be updated, or keep working on improvements. I believe the GUI is crude, and LnS is like having a supped up sports car engine in a Junker cars body. Has anyone tried LnS on Windows 8? If Frederic has abandoned the project then it would be nice to see someone like Webroot acquire LnS.

Missing from here for about a year and a half.
I also wonder what has happened to him as well as what is to become of LnS.

Phant0m hasn't posted here since February 16th. I wonder if Wilders will pull the plug on this section of the forum.

Another reason for having uninstalled LnS from my computer. The thought of having an application that has been abandoned adds to a sense of insecurity. I hope he is fine, but I'm beginning to think that 'they' disappear so that they can effectively stop providing support for their programs.

I still feel it is a good firewall solution, especially with Phant0m's ruleset.

It is a good Firewall, but no excuse to not strive for improvements. It could be a lot better.

It doesnt need to be alot better. Its a simple rule based firewall. Updates arent going to magically create your rules.

The application is stable, fast, and easy to use with Phat0ms ruleset. The only issue is the semi out dated GUI, but even that is no big deal. Its light for a reason.

That's not the only thing in need of updating. When LnS went from a strictly 32-bit application to a 64-bit one the transition was ~ Snipped as per TOS ~. There are things, such as component authentication that really needs to be added to the 64-bit version so that it reflects the capabilities of the 32-bit one.

I uninstalled LnS from the 2 machines I had it on today because it was blocking my Boleh VPN connection. I tried creating rules for my VPN, but the firewall did not want to remember my rules. I'm not sure what the problem was, but i'm no novice. I'm of above average knowledge on TCP/IP protocols / Firewalls. Maybe I just need to learn my way around LnS better. I tried allowing Boleh VPN to use all TCP, and UDP ports and LnS was still blocking those ports. I must have been overlooking some of the options of LnS or something was just not operating correctly on LnS's part. Don't get me wrong.. its a strong packet filter firewall, but there are improvements that could be made. There are several that I would like to see, but why even list them until Frederic appears again.

The order of the rules in the list affects them. It blocks/allows starting at the top most rule and filters downward.

    Hi whitedragon551
    I agree with you.

But! I think it is dying a slow death, because Frederic seems to have been unable to keep his customers and the members here on the Forum informed for nearly 18 months.

    Hi blasev
Frederic and Phant0m are not one and the same person, but two different people.

Frederic is the Author & Owner of and at :- Look 'n' Stop Firewall

Phant0m is the Author & Owner of and at :- MntOlympus /Phant0m Ruleset

So you should be asking Frederic for a new Serial Code, not Phant0m.

Its very dissapointing that Frederic has not stayed in touch with the members on this forum, as well as no attempt to update the software. Now I have purchased LNS it is a great piece of software, and works flawless for me. But to be quite honest, has the the developement of this software been abandoned o_O?

Yes, like ProcessGuard (DiamondCS) and AppDefend/RegDefend (Ghost Security) the developers just abandon their software and eventually Wilders ended their active forums here. It seems like that is happening with LnS with no updates in 2 1/2 years and no word from Frederic in well over a year. Phant0m is till supplying custom rulesets for LnS, but who knows for how long. Phant0m has not been here at Wilders now in several months.

I hate to say this, but its quite possible something happened to him in real life. You know one of those things that can happen to any of us at any time.
