No, the free version is a dead end. NVT is going to discontinue it, so there will be no further development. The Pro version is a very reasonable $20 for a lifetime licence that has no weird strings attached like other "lifetime" licenses do, like not including major updates ie; 3.0 > 4.0.

    Worth every penny.

No im not prepared to pay for such products.I want free options. At the moment i see no reason to stop using comodo.its very light and effective with a great firewall.
Im just seeing what viable free alternatives there are and i cant see anything viable at the moment.
    Thanks.

Can someone explain in some detail why the free version is inadequate (NVT Exe Radar Free), and why the paid version is so much better? I tried the free version, and honestly, although basic and less feature-rich, it seemed that it would do the trick. Let's assume that there are no further updates to the free, and that I can live with that. Why do I need the paid version?

Okay so if i downloaded and installed NVT free right now it could run as is for as long as i wished with no updates.?
    Is this correct.

Hi Beethoven... Well, in my post, I was just saying that no further updates was no concern to me really. But it is possible that a flaw, bug or vulnerability may be found in the existing free version at some point in the future, and that may be a concern to some. I believe there is nothing stopping you from running the free version for as long as you like, but whether or not it is indeed free of flaws is another issue you might want to keep in mind...

I am most interested in find out what is lacking in the free version...

Yes, thanks, I saw that. I don't find anything too compelling in the paid to make me want to switch...

Yeah, I may do that, good idea. It might take a while to figure everything out, but that would probably give me a good idea of what's different. Thanks....

I guess it will take you 5 minutes to understand how it works and what options you are given.

Well IMO the No lockDown,No password protection and No quarantine process that alone IMO is a enough to opt for the paid. The paid is only $ 19.99 US for a lifetime license and your contribution helps the dev to stay afloat and improve, cha ching.

Thanks DS. I don't mind paying either as long as I'm getting something of value. Sounds good. I will have a look at the trial when it comes out.
