The clearest piece I’ve seen about pulling the charger out of the box comes from venture capitalist MG Siegler. He points out that there are four reasons that Apple might have for doing this: increased margins, shipping costs, the transition to a future no-port iPhone, and the environment. That list, for Siegler, is in order of importance for Apple.

Maybe! It very well might be the case that Apple is making this move for purely selfish reasons, charging the same amount of money and giving a customer less.
It also means people who don’t already have a charger will be made to buy one — and boy howdy Apple’s own chargers aren’t the cheapest.

We have received several reports claiming that Apple’s iPhone 12 mass production will face delays. Some rumors even claimed that the devices were going to launch until 2021, but this last one is a bit more optimistic.

“What the progress looks like now is months of delay in terms of mass production, but Apple is doing everything it can to shorten the postponement. There’s a chance that the schedule could still be moved ahead,” one source told Nikkei.
“Some final iPhone assembly could be delayed to early October, and it wouldn’t be surprising if there are further delays because there are still a lot of tests going on now and the final designs have not yet been locked down.”

Apple's iPhone 12 models will not feature an upgraded 120Hz ProMotion display, according to display analyst Ross Young. Young previously said that Apple would not implement ProMotion technology until it adopted low-power LTPO display technology, a move Apple is not expected to make until 2021.

In a tweet shared this morning, Young said that the none of his contacts have been able to corroborate rumors that the ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro models will feature 120Hz displays, with his sources instead indicating 120Hz technology will be coming in the 2021 iPhone refresh.

5.4-Inch iPhone 12 Model Size Compared to Original iPhone SE and iPhone 7

iPhone 12 dummy models based on leaked schematics have been starting to circulate online and in online marketplaces.

Not happy with the circulating size comparisons between the rumored 5.4" iPhone 12 and the original iPhone SE models, MacRumors forum user iZac took matters into his own hands and purchased his own 5.4" dummy model to provide more detailed size comparisons between the original iPhone SE and iPhone 7 and the rumored 5.4" iPhone 12.

Quick takeaway is it’s ~6mm wider than the iPhone SE and ~3mm thinner than the iPhone 7 that I’ve scaled it against. This lines up with the CAD drawings I previously drew based on the leaked resolution, which I calculated as 2.8mm thinner than the iPhone 7. The round profile on the 7 makes it appear thinner in images. it‘s also stacked on the bottom so doesn’t help with perspective. I used the portrait camera to try to reduce that factor.

Hearing that Apple can get 120Hz Pro panels, but not 120Hz driver ICs. So they will either have to come up with a fix which will be difficult, wait for 120Hz driver ICs and delay the launch possibly significantly or launch with 60Hz. We are hearing they will launch with 60Hz.

According to a new Fast Company report, that might not be the case. Their claim is that Apple couldn’t squeeze the millimeter wave 5G hardware into the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and will make it exclusive to the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max — and then only in the U.S., South Korean, and Japanese versions of that phone.

As much as I would prefer to buy a phone that includes all the potential 5G connectivity I (and my lucky hand-me-down recipient) may need over the next few years, the reality is that millimeter wave 5G doesn’t have the penetration to matter in the United States right now, and probably won’t in 2021, either.

This appears to be the Pro model due to the three-lens camera setup at the rear, and if accurate, the body suggests the 6.1-inch ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro could feature a LiDAR Scanner. There have been some rumors that have suggested Apple might limit the LiDAR Scanner to the 6.7-inch ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro, but that may not be the case.

We’re expecting Apple to announce four new iPhones later this year, and signs and portents increasingly suggest that the smallest will be named the iPhone 12 mini — a title new to the iPhone range but with a solid Apple heritage.

The name was mentioned earlier this week by established leaker @L0vetodream, who suggested that the four new iPhones would be called the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Now another leaker, @duanrui1205, has shared images showing Apple’s “silicone case stickers,” complete with names and hand-labeled screen sizes.
We saw the image via MacRumors, which notes that the model numbers are new for Apple, and that @duanrui1205 has had some leaking success recently.

Apple will reveal the iPhone 12 on October 13th

By all accounts, the company will be packing plenty of new devices into next week’s show. Reports suggest that we could be looking at two versions of the iPhone 12 Pro and two versions of the standard iPhone 12, which would make this the largest swath of brand new phones Apple has ever released in one shot. In an interesting twist, the company also seems to be making its iPhones more physically diverse than ever.

And on the other end of the lineup, Apple will reportedly reveal a version of the iPhone 12 Pro with a 6.7-inch display — the largest the company has ever squeezed into a phone.

At the very least, here’s hoping Apple has some power efficiency improvements to announced. They’ll be crucial now that the company is finally embracing 5G — at this time, rumors suggest that all new iPhones will support sub-6 5G, but support for faster (but less common) mmWave 5G could be limited to just a single model.

Kang says Apple will announce four new iPhones next week: an iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All four will reportedly feature 5G support, including mmWave in the US. The Super Retina XDR display which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 11’s Pro models will apparently be available across the whole lineup this time, and the handsets are said to use ceramic in their glass screen construction to make them tougher and more drop resistant.
All four will reportedly be able to film in the Dolby Vision HDR standard.

Kang also predicts we’ll see Apple announce new wireless “MagSafe” chargers at the event. These could work with a new wireless charger-compatible iPhone case, according to MacRumors, which uses magnets to help it align correctly.
