The new iPad Pro is just like the old iPad Pro, just faster
Powering the iPad Pro is Apple's new A12Z Bionic processor. It's an eight-core processor, with four main cores for common tasks, like opening an app or email. The remaining cores are used for resource-intensive tasks, like photo editing. For the first time, the iPad Pro has an eight-core GPU.

On paper, it's the fastest and most powerful iPad Pro Apple has ever built. In practice, it's exactly that. Coming from a 2018 iPad Pro, I've been able to tell small differences in tasks like applying effects in Pixelmator Pro or editing and saving files in PDF Expert.

For more routine tasks, like browsing Twitter, triaging Slack messages, or watching YouTube, the speed boosts aren't as noticeable.
