Hi Folks, Has anyone tried a new Android app called InviZible Pro? I've got it installed on an old Nexus 5 phone and my first impressions are positive. It "uses DNSCrypt, Tor and Purple I2P to achieve maximum security, privacy and comfortable use of the Internet". Pointless crap. in fact for any android device which uses a google account (newer history can except huawei and similar) you are visible for google and your ip, it do not matter where it is located. Using this app makes geo locations fail, in any app, in special navi apps or in germany the corona app. and google is able to determine your connection and can make it fail this way. nor it can filter ads or more and it do not limit unwanted communication like a firewall or adguard premium. adguard premium can use its own vpn service (separate app now), it has its own dns service (other to chose possible). For my current needs I have windscribe installed if I need a reliable vpn service From the comments orbot is spyware, ever was since it was sold ten years or more ago. For me, InviZible is no real vpn service, it needs this android function to route traffic to TOR. TOR is not safer than other services, but I won't trust any sensible data to or from TOR because of its structure. ~ Off Topic Remarks Removed ~
Hi @Brummelchen Thanks for your reply. Did you mean ISP rather than "ip"? FYI, I currently use IVPN to encrypt all internet traffic in order to ensure that this is hidden from everyone. You are obviously very knowledgeable about internet security & privacy. I try to understand as much as I can but I'm growing weary of this stuff. It's like trying to hit a continuously moving target. And, why does an application like InviZible Pro get a 4.5 star rating from a seemingly well-informed bunch of people? BTW, have you published any material on the internet that I may find interesting to read? I really would like to get a handle on this. Why did you choose Windscribe instead of all the other VPNs on offer? They've obviously got an eye on the future. At the very end of their website, I note that it says: © 2021 Windscribe Limited I presume there are times when you consider a VPN service to be unnecessary? JPC
notice - I wrote "orbot..." - my bad, it was "Orbit (Downloader)" which was spyware! sorry I dont use windscribe that often, they ask me every week where I have been (its a free account but 50gig traffic, not 10, windscribe just happend) its only "Tor", no more "TOR" (from "The Onion "Routing") Tor is a private build network where the first and last relay are critical when hacked or attacked. For some people it's the only connection out. From my view at least it has more disadvantages than benefits as (real) VPN services. I don't speak about your data, I speak about your identity. When you log in into services it does not matter if direct, VPN or Tor - you are identified by login. Some services don't allow this, e.g. PayPal is one of those, you can't log in. and it does not make sense to buy things with real name and delivery address and have the IP cloaked. My "big" (40 gig) last usage of VPN was to load the Bob Ross Videos from youtube because that videos are limited to the USA only. To mention the Tor browser - it's a modified Firefox because Firefox itself is not 100% anonymous although it understands Tor.
@Brummelchen You're talking nonsense 1. This app installs Tor as a system-wide proxy. All connections are routed through it, including Google's. Therefore, Google can't see your real IP address even when you're logged on G services on your phone. However, being logged on G services while on Tor network is very bad idea because there are many ways of tracking other than IP addr. Cross referencing metadata with your activities on G services is more than sufficient to determine your identity. In that case, noone can help you. Funny, though, that you called this app "pointless crap" because it breaks geo tracing. 2. The app is designed primarily for anonymity, but it has IP block lists functionality to block ads and whatever IPs you want. I use it with Netguard firewall and they work very well together.
yeah, nonsense. i am pretty sure you forgot some details. - an android phone is using 3 ways for geo location. - you need to disable the other 2 and you need to deny this option for google apps - this is not possible, your phone is aware of its position. - in case you log into google you may cloak your ip, but not your id - in a very bad case google (AI) is locking your account by purpose because i was hijacked from the end of the world regular pages dont mind of ip, except you're a bad guy and need to hide, in that case there is more to do than installing a vpn/proxy/tor-proxy. in case of a security software to find your lost phone - dont lose it
