Hmm... I checked the file, but it looks like it has been correctly detected as bad since Dec. 31st, 2008....

How did you scan the file to cause it to not be detected?

I just set up your example of "how to do.txt" with Edge in a VMWare virtual machine running XP SP3 and Edge blocked it as soon as I inserted the USB key with the name "High Risk Worm"

Great :D Virtual machines always introduce a layer of inconsistency, especially with USB drives. :)

fwiw-i just seconds ago ran SD ver 1.1.0.275 on xp pro sp3 machine, they get along fine here (Edge .17). i have had SD since around 10-2008, and Edge since i was given an early beta, and never any indication of incompatibility between the 2.

probably not helpful, but when i saw the post i wanted to ensure Edge .17 wasn't causing problems previous versions had not.

Thanks for the information :) Our tests today were inconclusive - we installed SD and did encounter an issue but after rebooting everything was fixed o_O

After that, we couldn't reproduce it at all on any system.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before (I don't want to read through 50 odd pages of posts), but I'm running Vista with the sidebar on. When the 'authenticating' box pops up in Prevx, it comes up behind the sidebar window and so is very hard (or impossible) to read.
I've moved that box from behind the sidebar window but the next time it pops up, you guessed it, it goes right behind the sidebar window again. Arrggghhh...
Is there any way of making that 'authenticating' window remember where it was the last time? Or can the Prevx programmers make a change to the program so that it is 'sidebar aware'.
Look forward to your response ... anyone.

We intentionally send the scanning message to the absolute back of all of the windows as it is meant to be kept out of the way of the user. The window only contains a filename and generally shows for less than a half second or so and can just be ignored. If an item is actually found which requires attention, Edge will show a large warning in the middle of the screen :)

Thanks Prevx Support. Wow, what a quick response.
I can understand what you're saying about putting the message box to the back of other windows, but it would be nice for those users that actually want to see what's being scanned, to be able to do so. At the moment they have no choice. That's a shame.
Can I suggest you reconsider and at least give an option to make all information boxes clearly visible.
    Otherwise, an outstanding product.

I've added it to the list :D We do have some functionality to add for the scan popup still (i.e. - right now you can't disable it :)) and this additional functionality will be coming in a release in the near future :)

Oliver, just checking, have you selected the sidebar to be always on top of other windows?

Then it's probably just me, lol. I'll try it again, anyway. Out of curiosity, what's your self-protection level ?

EDIT : well, I have just tried it again, and same problems : much slower on start-up, Prevx disactivated and back again (low self-protection), and so on. I think I just won't use SD any more, lol.

on Edge .17 the setting is medium, on previous versions it was either default or disabled. up until just 2 days ago i was using Outpost Pro 2009 FW and Avira Free, both now gone. Outpost was a little twitchy with Edges self-protection. now using OA Free and no Avira.

what other security apps are onboard your machine?

OSS 2009, but now they work great together. And without Prevx, I can use SD with Outpost without any issues.
