That privacy policy applies only to the website and is there primarily for legal reasons. We don't mine any data, basically all that says is: if you provide us with information, we can use it to help you.

Me too - it drives me mad :D

A larger font was forced on us, even though Joe and I argued for a smaller one under the scan stats. I guess us sitting 3 inches away from the screen all day does that ;)

You may want to change the text on the self protection screen... "This option may result in incompatibilities of you are using multiple other security products" clearly, should be "This option may result in incompatibilities of you are using multiple security products" or "This option may result in incompatibilities of you are using other security products"

I see nothing wrong with what it says in the product now. What is wrong is that you keep writing "of" all the time in that sentence.

Oh, right, now I see your point, but you still write "of"! :D Good catch.

Can anyone from Prevx confirm this?

Are you receiving an "Open" dialog or an "Open With" dialog? In some cases if you download an executable from the internet or another computer, Windows adds a flag which forces it to show that dialog - we use a method different from other AVs for the right click scanning which has no overhead (as opposed to 1+ MB of overhead) but it does have a few caveats.

We have received a number of complaints about this, however, so we are working on a way that would be best for all users (possibly an on-demand feature download of the more advanced right click scanning).

I am receiving the "Open File" dialog.

EDIT: I think you are right about Windows adding a flag (XP). Some executable files I have from when I was still using Vista, the right-click scanning works just fine.

When I scan an exe, it either scanns it as you would expect, or I get an "Open File" security dialogue.

If I scan say the exe for Zemana "Antilogger.exe" it scans it in the expected way. If I scan an install file eg the setup exe for an app, it gives me the "Open File" dialogue

    ******************edit******************
This does not seem to be aa rule - just scanned the setup exe for another app and it scanned in the normal way - withouy the Open File dialogue.

Hi joe 2 things about some problem on "my" thread about Prevx (now 3.0:D )
    a) we have the same problem about right click every file (pdf, exe, doc..), we can't scan with Prevx but clicking scan with Prevx 3.0 we receive the open file dialog. Conclusion right click scan doesn't work
    b) on the Italian version of Prevx moving mouse over the prevx icon on the traybar we can see a message sayng : Previx3.0.1.56^%skinstring1(*STRING6*)%^^ansistring2...
I specify the Italian version 'cause i don't know if the english v. have the same problem.
    Thanks

    a) I believe this will be fixed in the next update (due out shortly)
    b) looks like an Italian version problem - I'm investigating it now and we should have it sorted shortly as well :)

Thanks for the report! (or should I say Grazie :D)

    Hi!

Just noticed an extremely nasty FP with Prevx v3.0.1.56..

Prevx detects CE-Infosys Free CompuSec whole disk encryption software MBR loader as malicious. If user allows Prevx to modify the MBR, the whole encrypted disk is in danger. Could you please check it asap?

    Here's a link to CompuSec's download page:

We're investigating this now - could you please send a scan log from the system which produced the FP to the email address I've sent you in a PM? We should be able to correct the FP centrally.

We'll be analyzing the MBR which they are using as well to prevent this from happening in the future.

    Joe,
Have installed the newly released Online Armor 3.5.0.9 on a clean snapshot and downloaded Prevx 3.0 beta 60 and the initial scan gave these FP(?)
Screenshots of scan result and detection overrides after right clicking and reporting as FP's. Note - 4 on one and only 3 on the other o_O
Check your PM,s in a little while for the scan results:
    Edit - sent e-mail instead

Thanks for the report - I'm going to work with our research team to try and come to solution that will prevent us from FPing on every OA build o_O

Looking at that again - there is actually only one file which is the FP - oaui.exe, the rest are entries pointing to that file. This may be a bug on our end with the FP reporting - we'll investigate this shortly as well :)

Thanks - managed to track down the data and fixed it :) You should be able to run another scan.

For what its worth - the MBR protection looks for any obfuscation to the MBR and reports it if it doesn't completely trust it. Therefore there may be a couple cases where this "could" generate FPs but they can be fixed easily.

With the new MBR rootkit out, its better to be safe than sorry, and the FPs are easy to fix so if you see anything which looks suspicious, send them to me and I'll investigate further :)

Beta... soon to be live release :) We've made a number of changes to how things behave in Prevx 3.0 to make it much more logical. Its hard to describe all of the changes by themselves but as a whole the product is now much tighter integrated and smoother to use.

Have some more FPs of Windows 7 I think... Check the attached image. Do you necessarily need a scan log anyway?
