Can i ask in what sense Privazer was a disaster?

 

I just use Privazer for erasing deleted files or fully delete existing files. It is the best tool I found so far. Other products tend to leave remnants of files. I realized that when I tried to sell an old PC and wanted to clear the HDD of personal data. I performed a factory restore but that was not enough.

 

I'm using both and have paid licenses for them... Never had any problems with Privazer Donor's Version, I have it on all of my laptops.. no probs at all.. weird...)
Have made some custom rules for CCleaner's cleaning operations, which is quite nice..

Yups, I like it a lot too, and use it for my main cleaning operations concerning privacy..

 

Seems like someone hacked the site ax64.com and left some ISIS messages there, on news..

at least i know the support takes long to answer... asked for upgrade options 2 weeks ago, no response yet.

 

Here's an "unofishul" answer to your unanswered support request on upgrade options... upgrade to MACRIUM REFLECT!

 

Shame, it had so much potential...I think Macrium is the best now, I only wish they would simplify the naming of incremental's (sic) differentials, its a pain that the end-user has to jump through hoops to create a desktop solution themselves!

 

CH1... I'm not sure what you mean by the above, can you explain? If it's a REFLECT comment, maybe better handled in the Macrium Reflect thread.

 

I just use the backup comment function. Whats so hard about that?

So something that started out and went along on a fairly working state is all but done now?

I can't possibly believe that this particular Hybrid Rollback c0de is just wasted effort. Surely at least there is enough there to rewrite it and bring functionality to it again.

This is completely out of my element @Peter2150 as you probably already learned by now (I do malware/security apps well) but I have caught on to at least some basic general workings enough to not just outright dismiss the c0re function of hybrid rollback tech in a program similar to this.

This app might have slipped definitely but doesn't it have enough good history (aside from the collapse part) to make it eligible for a rewrite by whoever decides to take it up again?

 

It is my understanding that the owners of the program went bankrupt,,,,thats why the program is dead.

 

Which still begs to question that it's code went someplace, be it owners or sold to another party/vendor.

Curiously astonishing turn of events doesn't dismiss the fact there was enough progress left for someone or another entity to work with to draw up for a future try somewhere?

Mildly curious and think it's worth some time to look at.

 

Easter, based on your signature you are a Macrium Reflect user. If so, you understand that they also do DIFFERENCE RESTORATIONS as AX64 did (WARM restore... nobody does HOT). v6 does it as well as anyone on the scene but v7 does it even better if you take a lot of snapshots during any given System session thanks to their new feature called CBT (Continuous Block Tracking). This is the technology that AX64 used for their DIFFERENCE restorations and it works very well (smaller & faster snapshot images, faster restores due to the smaller snapshots). Macrium's version of this technology is very solid and there's even a BETA version available for use with v6. This BETA version was heavily tested before the v7 release of the technology and is solid as a rock. Both @Peter2150 and myself have been using the v6 BETA in a production environment since June 2016... continues to be very solid.

IFW's release of v3.07 has also made their DIFFERENCE restoration available both using the FileSystem Cluster differences and the Block Tracking differences. It's a little more cryptic in its general use than Macrium but seems to work very well once you get the hang of it. A pleasant surprise for IFW v3 was that its licensing agreement now allows its use on 5-machines (instead of 3)... very generous for a single license.

At this point, AX64's ground breaking technology has been usurped and is readily available in these two mainstream technology vendors.

Waj spoke recently of possibly getting together with yet another technology company so that their product could be advanced/improved as quickly as possible. If that happens then there will be at least three companies that do this type of image restoration. Nothing has been heard since that mention was made...

Just wrapping up spent the better part of the past few days in running another line of new images with Macrium 6 and it's so far always been tops (of course restores as well).

THIS was the post in their Forums that discussed ongoing negotiations with "fantastic partners"... their Forum does not date posts so I have no idea when this came out but it was definitely sometime after May 2016.
