Not sure if this is the cause of your issue, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe currently (due to a bug) following a warm restore the boot menu is removed. So you may need to put it in place again - backup tools tab > rescue media builder > startup manager > install

You are correct, Taotoo... that is a current bug (being fixed as we type).

PS - when the re-install occurs, the BOOT time in the BOOTmgr is set to 3-sec., which for most people is too fast for normal menu use. To change this, after the install, go to the RUN dialogue box and execute a MSCONFIG. Then use the BOOT TAB to change the timing of the menu latency.

Hello taotoo. It has not worked since I installed the new Passport drive. I don't understand the path you gave...'backup tools tab > rescue media builder > startup manager > install'.....where is backup tools tab ?

Rainwalker, those options are in the main menu of TM v2...

And somewhere else if you're using v1 - shouldn't be too hard to find.

Thanks for the confirmation (ps personally I find 3 seconds to be perfect - but then I don't like waiting!).

Boot menue should be fine with NTFS. ExFAT is used for memory cards and not for hard drives as I know.

From memory there is an icon at the bottom of the main screen - perhaps the rightmost one. If it's not easy to find, is it possible you're using a version that doesn't support the preboot function?

Needed to add (3) more 'cause one of my displays takes 3-sec to re-sync to the newer resolution

Thanks for your time Froggy, but I see no such option in v.1.4.1.36. I do see Local Storage and have already set that up. I had been using this version successfully for months.
Ok...as I wrote I was not sure. May have been a flash stick. I was thinking why back Isso had said something about FAT32....oh well.

I set the time to 20 seconds in case I am not paying attention. But you don't have to wait the full 20 secs. Just hit the enter key and it goes on immediately.

UPDATE: I gave up the ghost. Resisted V.2 as V. 1 was working flawlessly....until it wasn't. Now running V. 2. So far so good.

Now you're definitely gonna get a disappearing boot menu ;)

Ouch! I never even noticed my screen resyncing - not sure if mine is set to window the picture, or even if that would avoid a resync.

Not sure what you mean, but now I can always go back to V.1 as I am sure the boot menu will still be there. Think I'll stay with V.2 unless....

Did some more testing on time machine. Generally very successful. Did try hot restores. Warm restores very good, although they can be slow.

Strange thing is one of the tests was to test across a defrag. Not a offline boot defrag, but just general defrag. It was troublesome in that one of the restores was extremely slow. But then I tried restoring a 9 month old image with the V2 recovery CD. Went fine. Then repeated the restore back to the present. So far with certain limitations TM is working okay for me.

Question for Waj: I emailed for beta licenses and no response yet.

    Hello,
I was about to ask the same question. At least I now know that others have not received a reply also...
