    Thank you.
I still say it should be posted in the OP. ;)

Is the open other backup option working for you, none of my drives are listed but it works ok in the explorer window? Can only see the backup images saved by the program.

I'm pretty much ready to give up using any NAS for backup storage and recovery. An attached USB drive works fine.

NAS Recovery Problems: (AXTM backs up fine to all my NAS devices)
    1. On one W7 PC desktop recovery tries to use the onboard (MoBo) Ethernet when I actually use a Gigabit Ethernet card (so no network is found).
    2. On another W7 desktop recovery reports "No Network Found" when trying to map the NAS - what it really meant was I needed to enter a User Name in credentials, then it mapped the drive.
    3. On both W7 desktops, when I finally get a drive mapped, the Backup Browser does not show any Backups. If I use Explorer++ I can see the backups, but nothing shows in the Backup Browser to recover.

Just installed 14136 and made a recovery stick. It still fails with a black screen and the mouse cursor which can move but that is all.

    Using Win 8.1.

Cold restores work fine with new version, still no hot restore even with a lot of things stopped prior to attempting restore. I was told buy Waj they are working on this still. I'd love to know what is causing the it to freeze. Hopefully waiting.

Malwarebytes Pro was my problem. I set its service to "Delayed Start" and that fixed the issue! Are you sure the service isn't running?

Kit1cat, when I click the "open other backups" tab, I do see my drives in the "Browse for Folder" window that opens up — even the external backup drive that is not powered up. I do recall not seeing the drives at one point, but I rebooted and they were there again.

It's running but only to run a scan during the day (and not during a restore). I don't have it set to provide ongoing protection, I just use it scan with. Both services are Manual. Scheduler is "started." I might try disabling it altogether to see hat happens for the heck of it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there any way to unmount a mounted drive (other than by rebooting, of course)? I have version 1.4.1.36 under Windows XP Pro SP3.

Hi Norman! I just checked in v1.4.1.24 (latest release) and, indeed, the "unMOUNT" button that normally appears in the main AX64 TM window is no longer there... after the 1st time I ran it after COLD BOOT up. I then CLOSed the Time Machine and re-opened it and the unMOUNT button was there.

I tried to repeat that by RESTARTING and COLD BOOTing my machine but could not... the unMOUNT button is now always there.

    I wish I knew more...

Stopping Malwarebytes completely didn't resolve the Hot restore from hanging.

Thanks, Pete and Chamlin, the Browse for Folder window is not opening on by system.

That won't work! Turning off or stopping it doesn't disable the services. You have to disable or set the two Mb (one being schedule) services to Delayed start. I've never scheduled anything but it just runs auto unless you change it. Not saying that is your "only" issue but on x64 W7 SP1 you are not going to get a hot restore to work until you disable or delay start those two services.

Unfortunately that didn't help either. :(

My screen still wants to dim as a power saving feature. Maybe I can try disabling power saving features, but that starts to be a real pain to have to do every time--if that were the problem. At some point it becomes too much trouble to fool with.

This is getting confusing, what operating systems is everyone talking about?
Windows 7 64bit version 1.4.1.24 is working spectacular!
Maybe this thread should be broken up per OS?

For me "Open other backups" from recovery CD does not work(it did on v1.2.0.1120) but works from main GUI and the "Local Storage" recovery environment.
My solution was using UltraISO replace boot.wim on the recovery CD with boot.wim from the folder in C:\Recovery that AX64 creates with the "Local Storage" recovery environment.
Not sure if this will cause any other problems but initial test looks ok.

    BTW I'm testing v1.4.1.36 on Win 7 x64.

Is sector corruption still an issue with the current version? I believe I read somewhere in this thread that at one point it was.

System configurations are very widely varied. But since it (hot restore) works for a lot of people (maybe even for most of them), it can be concluded that the programmers have done it right. Maybe not perfectly right, but at least it's generally right.

If you really think that AX64 is good for your needs, maybe you can do the troubleshooting more methodically, i.e: start with the safe mode & then enabling things one by one, or even (if you have a spare system) try starting from scratch, installing your essential softwares one at a time.

Of course, if you cannot afford this (time-wise or hardware-wise), then all you can do is supplying the developers with as much info as you can about your system, and hoping that somehow they could find out what is so "special" in your system :)

Actually, the latest version of AX64, if I'm not mistaken, supposedly* supports all Windows version from XP to 8.1.

*but your experience may vary :p

Thank you for your reply. I'm finding it difficult without a proper manual.
I just bought AXTM and the (only) version offered was 1.4.1.36, yet you mention v1.4.1.24 as the latest release. Should I downgrade; if so, where can I find 1.4.1.24?
Where does the unMount button appear? Is it an additional button that shows up when a drive is mounted or does it replace the Mount button?

    Hi Norman

It is available via the downloada button on the AXTM site (http://www.ax64.com/)...at least my browser reports to be downloading .24 when I click 'Download'.

    Regards

Yes, it is, via the 'Buy Now' button. I followed the 'Purchase Now' link on that page, and from there one gets .36.
