    Hi guys,
    I'm developer of AX64

All who have problems with mouse and keyboard, please send me your system info using HWiNFO (HWiNFO download page). You need to run HWiNFO and click "Save report"
Please write if you plug your mouse/keyboard in USB 3.0 port and did you try to plug it in USB 2.0. Try to boot Windows Recovery Environment and check if your mouse/keyboard works there

Welcome Vitaly! He has done some great work with AX64 in the past. He is one of the bright minds behind the development of the fast-cold restore method.

MB, can you give us your mainboard type (UEFI or otherwise) and, if UEFI, what are the BOOT settings (UEFI, Secure Boot, Legacy/MBR?)?

Also, feel free to send in the HWinfo report requested by Vitaly... he needs this stuff to determine all the possible BOOT configurations he's trying to deal with... and there are tons as we're hearing all over this forum.

    MB, FYI...

This is a "standard" BiOS-based mainboard using standard MBR-based HDDs... no EFI partitions on your HDDs. It does not use an UEFI BiOS, therefore no SECURE BOOT is available.

If your mouse/keyboard is using the USB, are they plugged into the BACK of the machine? If the BACK, do you know whether you're using the USB3 ports (BLUE plastic separators in the port receptacle... two of them) or the USB2 ports (BLACK separators... six of them)? If USB3, "fer shur" get that hardware summary to Vitaly.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    1. Rollback was not installed at the same time most of the time.
    2. One COLD restore failure was attempted by CD boot not USB.
    3. I'm not sure how to tell which USB port is which. (Left side is 2.0 correct?) I have been using the Right side.

I do have an extra partition on my C: drive that I just use for storage. Could that be a problem? At times there's nothing there.

I'm still concerned the HOT restores only work about once. If I'm going to have to do COLD there's not much advantage in not using Acronis then.

I'll try a few more to see what happens, but the COLD method is only about 10 minutes shorter at best that Acronis.

    Thanks

    It says this:
The application or OS couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.

In the post above yours froggie indicated how to tell which USB port is which
    AND

You should be using only USB2 ports for the external drive (storage drive).

Also AX64s strong point is the hot restore. As far as cold restore is concerned its pretty much the same as most other programs. Hot restore however will take only a few min to complete. Way faster than any other app out there that I know of.

I bet the problem is with the USB3 port thing, if not you should create a support ticket and let the techs have at the problem. I am sure they will figure it out.

PS: The 2nd partition should have no bearing on this problem (I think).

Remade the recovery media and unfortunately it still takes forever to restore.. I suspect the SSD is doing garbage collection/wear leveling on the fly, but that's not for this thread... Thanks for your suggestion though!

The only thing I use the USB port for is booting outside Windows (COLD). The storage disk is and internal HD so I have no control over how it's connected. I would think that would make for a better restore.

Is there a reason why one USB is better than another? Why the difference?

My primary HD is a Hybrid if that matters, the secondary is not.

It may be fast but honestly not faster than RBRx. But that's kind of an apples to oranges comparison.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I still see 1.4.1.24. It is a release so you can download from main page.

That's exactly why you received that msg... but you shouldn't receive any more in normal operation.

    Anone using AX64 on XP?

I have tried so many versions on XP but I am not able to make an XP-based recovery CD that can actually boot into AX64 recovery console. If anyone was able to do it, what was this version of AX64?

    Thanks

Thank you, TheRollbackFrog for your fast reply

Right now I am running it as an Automatic Hourly Backup and just wanted to see if others do as well.
