Why don't they answer support questions?

Peter what do you mean First Defense is back? Do you have a new link to a new version of the product?

Yup, as puff-m-d pointed out, it's back and for real. The business version is what is identical to the original.

Yes, AX64's simplicity is part of its genius.

    Hello,

I am sorry but I do not understand why you directed your response to me as I was only supplying the links that the poster requested and was not answering any other questions o_O ...

I know Pete's gonna get mad at me but  ...

Enonod, the snaps themselves are on the protected volume but the snaps can be archived anywhere. Best to get these questions/observations answered in the latest FD-ISR forum thread instead of here.

And as they often sometimes say, the band marches on.

so does it look like this is dying again? after buying it way back when i was so hoping after the whole mess of being bought or however it went down they would be back on track. but it seems like its all over the map now. versions all over the place?? people are using so many different versions half the time you have to specifically ask which one they are running unless they state it. i love ax64 and have really not many issues other than on 8.1 it still has its hicups at times. win 7 its golden for me and has been for a while. but i would like to start upgrading most systems (for wife, daughter family etc) who have ax64 to 8.1 and it looks like we cant fully rely on it for that yet.

i HOPE this is not the end for it and that realcopy will soon come with A BETTER gui than they are showing in the beta version out now. otherwise im torn now as to what to go to. ive always used ifw but was loving ax64 and used it almost all the time till i went to 8.1.

I would suggest that this is a bit premature. If you have concerns send an e-mail directly to either waj or Isso (or better yet both) and voice your concerns. As I said above AX64 will no doubt be around for a long time to come. Perhaps the sort of support we had was unrealistic for the long term. Besides, as you said, AX64 has performed very nicely on your systems so I see no reason to not put it one your other PCs and be glad you have copies enough to do so. If worse comes to worse then down the road I suspect you will be glad you did, even for 8.1 which as you said works most of the time,,,,just don't rely on AX64 alone on these systems (I suggest that goes for all systems but thats just me).

Frankly when things looked like they were going south fast a while back I was really glad I had purchased a family pack license when I did. There were many who appeared to have missed the boat and clearly regretted it. So if you think things may be going bad I would jump on a license or 3 sooner rather than later,,,,,,but as I said above,,,,,,I do not really think you need to worry about this.

My 2 cents (Canadian - which is worth 1.8 cents US as I write)

I posted this on IRS forum but it's not very active plus a bunch of you guys are veterans of it anyway. Here is what I posted but zero responses: "Folks, no intention of purchasing this (at least at $70) as AX64 has been working great, however, in the vein of "two" snapshot apps, does this mess with the MBR and does it support trim? Thank you!"

Last night after posting above I sent an e-mail to AX64 support regarding the concerns with tech support. This morning (6:52 am) I received a reply indicating that they are still there and working hard, that they are a small team and a bit backlogged. I Hope someone will pop by this forum today.

HI I am trying to uninstall ax64 time machine version 1145 from windows 8.1,it is not working properly ,but everytime I try it screws up the system restore in windows. I have had to use my weekly backup 3 times since last night. Is there a way to uninstall this manually of in safe mode? Why is it affecting system restore. I know it is ax64 affecting system restore in windowws because i am able to create a system restore manually in windows, after I uninstall ax64 ,all i get is a system restore not doing anythimg.Thks

    Dearest Wilders folks,

Sincere apologies for the lack of updates. There have been unforeseen events that have slowed our response times. AX64 team including I continue to work as hard as ever. Some of our core developers have had to take leave for private and personal reasons. This has slowed response times as well as development.

To clarify, the merger was an effort to improve support and the product (the team expanded) and there was no money transaction or quick buck earned as some have indicated (which is unfortunate, we would have liked a quick buck!). We continue work as usual and we hope to have some good news very soon.

All pending support tickets have been responded to or shall be soon. If you haven't been responded to in the next day, send me a PM and I'll follow it up!

Everything we have done so far has always been to try to make a sustainable and great product. There are some very pressing matters we're dealing currently that we hope will result in just that.

    Thanks for the patience!

    Regards,

    Waj

I am hoping for a real fix soon. AX64 worked great on my Windows 8.0 computer. But 8.1 rendered it useless. At this point I paid for something that I cannot use.

    Hi Waj

Many thanks for taking the time & trouble to provide an update on where you, Isso & the development team are. Of course we are frustrated at the apparent lack of progress (although v1.0.4.19 is working well for me) and your update helps.

Looking forward to "...to have some good news very soon."

    Regards

    Baldrick

New recovery solutions are appearing as we wait. I think the new AX64 version in the works needs more focus. ;)

...and please bring back 32 bit XP support as Isso was not aware that you dropped it.

Okay, now that that's settled, let's get back to work and help me avoid freaking out. :D Links are included to screenshots below.

Have v1.4.0.19 on both my Win 7 Pro PC and Laptop. Backed up everything manually last night after a desired tweak. Today, solved another systems issue on my laptop and when I attempted to do a backup, AX64 started doing a "first backup".

What? Canceled that and opened the backup browser. Empty! o_O

    Empty browser: http://screencast.com/t/RRK7Tgxi6gD
    Explorer Backup Drive View: http://screencast.com/t/vUMgou4t

EDIT: Don't know how to get these above URL's clickable...sorry.

Without those missing files, I can't go back in time...to recover those files.

    1. Any ideas?
    2. If those files got deleted, on a non-system backup drive, is there a way to recover them?

Realistically, I'm happy with the laptop as configured so I can just create a new baseline, but I'd sure prefer to have the back back backup.

Chamlin, if you open up the Backup Browser and use the "Open other backups" button to point to that strange "/AXTM Laptop" folder, you snapshots should all be there... the log files aren't necessary.

Thanks, TRBF. Tried that. (That's what led to the blank backup browser screenshot in the last set of screenshots.) Blank is all I get.

So I did a new full backup and now this is what shows up.

this is one of the problems i was talking about. i had the same thing happen out of nowhere. for some reason (and no i did not delete them and never touched the second backup drive its installed in a desktop that no one touches it runs specific tasks on it own) and i went to restore back to a prior date a couple weeks ago and all was gone!!! the ax64 folder on drive f: was EMPTY nothing nada. luckily for me i also run off site backups and thus i had a second backup if you will of drive f: and the ax64 folder when the backups were there. so i had to bring a copy of those to the desktop in question and copy them directly to drive f: and then was able to do a restore. the whole thing did not make sense and worked perfect up till then.

I'm submitting a ticket for ISSO et. al. so I can find out how to get AX64 to recognize the files that are still there. Will post back with results.
