    Hi BG,

I'll just confirm that AX64 won't be messing with MBR.

Please just install over - no matter if you are upgrading or downgrading.

Thanks Isso, based on this update as well as the feedback I've received so far, I will install 1145 and 'give it a go' when I return home.

Btw, if I just take manual snapshots does consolidation still occur, or not?

Thanks Cruise. No, with manual snapshots no automatic consolidation happens.

    Hi Cruise

Certainly...by that I mean that the hot restore feature is still not perfect in 1133 but IMHO, and on my rig, it works more often than when using 1120 or 1145. Cold restore works perfectly with all versions.

I stay real and everyone's compliments including my own are definitely in order.

I have a question now. I will not and maybe for a long time yet don't intend to screw up my current flawless stock windows 8 64bit units with an 8.1 upgrade and definitely not on Microsoft's Balmer official release timetable unsettle what is taken months to tweak, customize, and perfect.

So my question is will AX64 Time Machine's next release be expected to work just as good (and better) on this present platform without adding Microsoft's 8.1 recommended upgrade?

Microsoft has a horrible habit of just when users have finally ripped n stripped out all the useless excess they always seem to stuff into their new releases and upgrades to throw everything completely out of balance again just when you've refined your system, forcing us to start all over again from scratch.

I know that even some MS updates can force time exhausting changes to have to be made by vendors and developers just like yourself to readjust code for complete compatibility again.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi AXdev

Welcome...and thank you for making yourself known re. this. I am a Win7 user but I am sure some of the others around here with Win8 will come a knocking.

    Regards

    Easter,

I don't expect us to make many changes to support Win 8.1. So the next release should work with Win 8 and older versions just fine (unless we introduce new bugs, unrelated to Win 8.1 :) )

    Hi AXdev,

Tomorrow is the official day for upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1.

I will be upgrading quite a few machines, at least four at first. I have AX64 on 16 machines, some with Windows 8 and some with Windows 7.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Guys,

Let me introduce AXDev - he's the developer of the AX64 core, and he did a fantastic work bringing this project to life.
You are welcome to contact him if you encountered problems with Win 8.1. Thank you

so so so awesome to hear you guys will develop these separate. now i cant say i will not at least try the new real copy when it comes along i for sure will but ax64 is just amazing, i find myself really only needing image for windows and ax64 and i have held off renewing any other imaging apps lately. i formerly owned i think a lic to basically every app out there to have on hand for when i wanted to use them.

for me ax64 has been just so awesome and made my life easier and a lot faster at the end of the day so thank you. i was pretty upset when i heard it may be either gone or merged into a app (and please do not take offense to this real copy guys) i was not nearly as fond of (and i for sure hope you guys can make real copy just as awesome just please dont make it a bloated mess with all kinds of added junk!!! please keep it a imaging app and nothing more)

but anyway my point here is as long as isso can assure me work on ax64 will remain and it will remain a continued application then i will go ahead and buy a few more lic's for a few other machines i wish to run it on. i was not going to do this before but if i am assured of its continuing i will go ahead

best thing i read all week so thank you!!

    -----------------------

on another note and maybe i just missed it in this crazy long thread is there a way to incorporate ax64 into my image for windows boot disk?? so i can only have one boot disc with both apps for when i need one or the other?

    ---------------------

and to real copy i am personally against messing with the mbr unless its called for. for example if some one needed the one feature that required it then i could understand but otherwsie could it be left along unless triggered to do so?? and also please allow for a bootable disc to be created. i do not use programs personally that require me to boot to a menu i just prefer not to mess with or alter that. i much prefer simply using some form of a boot disc BUT i do think if the option was there is could at some point come in useful if say the boot disc could not be accessed or similar situation. but maybe only if the setting is turned on.

    thanks to everyone involved!!

Welcome to AXdev(Denis). Glad to have you here at Wilders.

Isso when you bring out the next version which sounds like it will be a major change, it might be time to start a new thread. This one is a monster.

    Dearest Dennis,

Welcome to Wilders. You, Isso and the rest of the AX development team have come out with a winner. Keep up the good work!

I will be upgrading tomorrow to Windows 8.1 on at least 4 machines. Would any of the current versions 1120, 1133 or 1145 work with Windows 8.1?

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

One BIG fix, for me anyway, was that the MOUNT now worked in XP. That was fixed in 1145.
