    Hi Twilight,

I believe that you misunderstood some people. The problem people are facing are with the stable version 1.2.0.1120, thus the comment it being a beta.

Almost every third time, when I try to restore the increment from Windows, it doesn't work. Have to go into recovery and then restore the full shebang from the recovery. I have AX64 on 16 machines.

Having said the above, I have full confidence in AX64 and for this confidence I am using it on 16 machines.

It is a marvelous piece of software and programing, and it could be made better!

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi twl

Can only speak for myself but I have been testing 1133 and then moved on to 1145, but have since reverted to 1133 as whilst 1145 fixed the issue it was supposed to (as far as I understand it) it caused me another issue that I have notified Isso of in case it is a more general one (but not for discussion here :D ).

To me 1133 work great other than the periodic 'hot' restore inconsistencies that I have seen (some call them failures but to me inconsistencies is better in terms of what I have experienced personally).

Agree with you the at the safest cause of action would be to go back to 1120 (as the last officially stable release)...but you know what the brethren are like over here... ;)

    Regards, Balders

Hi Baldrick, I see what you mean. I prefer to stay with the released versions of any software and wait for the new final releases. I'm not schooled enough to test betas. I even hold off installing a new version in some cases a few days, to see if other folks are having problems or not. :)

    Hi twl

Very wise. If that works for you then that is how you should proceed. :D Me, can't resist a little delve into the future...but if anything goes wrong I just use AXTM to go back (oooops...is that possibly tautological in nature? ).

No, realistically the quality of the app, as Al says, is excellent but young and there is room for more polish...which I have little doubt will come in time.

    Regards, Balders

I had problems doing a hot restore with the version previous to 1.2.0.1120 (program 'stuck' at 4%). However, upon updating to .1120, i was able to do a restore from within Windows.

Mind you, i've only had to do it once so i can't say it will work each and every time. Cold restores worked perfectly the times i've had to use it :D

I discussed this with Isso some time ago, and I'm bringing it up again now as the issue has re-surfaced following a clean install of Windows 7. I'm wondering if others have come across this too.

AXTM backups and restores work fine. The only annoying thing is after the restore process completes at 100% and just before the boot, a BSOD appears. After much investigation, the culprit appears to be the Intel Graphics Driver, igdkmd64.sys.

I tested restoring with AXTM and the default Windows VGA driver: no such BSOD. Once the Intel driver is installed, the BSOD appears. I'm using the latest Intel driver, by the way.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what's the solution?

I had e-mailed Isso (yesterday) about the buy function being down but have not heard back from him.

Now I'm starting to get concerned about the lack of activity and communication.

    Hi Stode,

Either I am extremely lucky or Isso is an extremely generous man. I believe it is both. Isso gave me two family licenses for FREE and then I purchased two family licenses with 25% discount. You can imagine how extremely generous Isso is.

I believe within time, the payment system will be up soon!

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Dear MarcP,

Businesses have lots of problems which require a lot of time. It took Isso almost three years to develop AX64, in the meantime he has suffered tremendous loss and cash flow problems.

Then he was so generous to all of us, that he gave us FREE licenses to almost anyone participating this thread. Those who came late to this thread, he gave them 25% discount on the already discounted price.

He needs to make money. Needs to concentrate on sale and to improve his cash flow to pay salaries and expenses. He might be working on a deal or something.

He has already assured us all that he is doing well but concentrating on his business, while at the same working full time to pay for his business from his own salary.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Dear Ray,

I fully agree with you. Most HOT restores for all imaging programs initiated within Windows, have 1/3 failure rate. I love and like AX64 so much, and being such a simple program, I don't why my expectation are for it so high.

We all wish future success to Isso and AX64.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Had a reply from Isso for my problem yesterday, less then 24 hours after submitting. Don't worry he is still out there.

    Mohamed,

Apart from AX64, what other apps can do a hot restore? A restore in the Windows environment.

    Hi Brian,

I believe RealCopy, Drive Snapshot, 1-Clk Restore can initiate a restore from within the Windows environment. One can pick an increment and they can perform a full restore from that increment backwards.

However, what sets AX64 apart, that it can only restore a particular increment, rather than perform a full restore. This can only be achieved within the Windows environment. However, outside the Windows environment from recovery media, AX64 performs a full restore from the chosen increment and backwards, like any imaging program.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Mohamed,

Drive Snapshot can't. I just tried and saw "Restoring your system C: with the operating system running is impossible but we can schedule a restore for the next reboot".

The restore is done prior to Windows loading.

RollbackRX, one of the best snapshot programs of recent years, but I would avoid the latest version.

EaseUS Todo back up has a snapshot option, but I have not used it.

    Kit1cat,

It is a snapshot app and doesn't do image restores. I guess that sounds semantic but I was thinking of image/restore apps. Maybe I asked the wrong question.

    Hi Brain,

You are absolutely right. Basically, the restore is initiated within the Windows and then on reboot the restore is done outside the Windows.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi Kit1Cat,

I believe that Brain has already answered your post. However, can you point towards, "EaseUS Todo back up". Give a link or something.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed
