GREAT! Got it. If I am going to try a reinstall to see if I can mount an image I may as well try a new version! If it still will not work I can see how to open a ticket. ;)

Just my suggestion... if a simple app like AX64 TM offers an unINSTALLER, you should use it, not REVO. All should be OK, though.

Can you explain quickly how you are trying to MOUNT the snapshot with AX64 TM... all the steps pls, and what OS are you using at the moment?

Well, I am using 32 bit XP Pro SP3.

All I do is open ax64 and hit View Backups. I go to the file(s) on lthe left pane and try to mount the image. I can right click and get a menu as well and see Mount, Restore, Delete, Edit. When I hit Mount from thre I also get an error 0 code 0.

MPSAN, I can't point you to a specific reason, but it sounds like a needed service is not running on your XP configuration... sorry I can't offer more.

Get those logs off to Isso and he should be able to tell you exactly what's at the root of this problem.

Well, I can not imagine what it is looking for. Also, there is nothing in the logs. I guess I can see what the response to my ticket is. I only have 12 more days to evaluate this and I do have a few issues with XP. I will say that I CAN mount an image in both Reflect Free and TrueImage.

Hang in there,,,,I can tell you that Isso is relentless when it comes to ferreting out problem spots. I had 2 that were quite baffling and he worked at them until they were resolved. Create the ticket and send the logs. I bet the problem will be fairly quickly resolved.

Yup...we are exchanging email now. A driver did not load. I hope he is making a lot of money on this. I bet he is up to about $2/hour now! o_O

I shall answer my question myself...
    Hi Stode.
Unfortunately AX64 does not support truecrypt encrypted volumes.
Truecrypt encrypts every track and sector on the partition, and currently
AX64 does not support sector-by-sector backup..
If you just use Truecrypt containers (=files which are encrypted) then you're good to go!
    Have a nice day.

Yes it does, but only online restore (while Windows is running) works. Backup is snappy, no performance issues there. Do note it's unecrypted, so I store them in my System Favourite Volumes.

I still recommend sector-by-sector imaging in case Windows doesn't boot. Then I restore to the latest snapshot in AX64.

I was away for five days and the PC was off. Shortly before I left I made a snapshot prior to installing August's MS updates, then installed them. After arriving home last evening I made another snapshot before updating Cyberfox and it took slightly over seven minutes like the baseline did. All prior snaps have averaged less than 40 seconds. I immediately took another snapshot and indeed it only took seven seconds. Simple explanation? Was it due to MS updates as in major changes to the PC? Still seems odd it would take that long. Thank you!

    Quickie question.

For one of my machines, I want to use a USB drive to boot from. I know AX64 will over write the USB drive when making the recovery media.

Can I remove what I have on a USB drive, make the recovery media, and then replace the data, and have it all work?

    Thanks,

    Pete

Would assume so...but give it a try...it cannot hurt to do so.

I've done it. Keep your own files in a separate folder and it's okay.

    Hi Pete,

Why don't you make the Recovery Media on the OS Drive, without removing anything?

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Not sure what you mean. Doesn't making the recovery media essentially wipe the drive. Making the CD's there is such a warning.

It does wipe the USB drive so don't do it on a drive with important data.

Create a AX64 boot iso file on your hard drive and use Easy BCD to create a boot menu. Just tried it and it works great.

Thanks for the tip, Mohamed. :)

    Hi Kit1cat,

    You are welcome!

I usually unzip the ISO and keep the unzipped folders in a different partition, and then use EasyBCD. Anytime, a new version is introduced, I create a new Recovery ISO, unzip it and then replace the older folders with the new folders.

Like this, I always have the latest Recovery Media as my bootmenu.

This can be done with any imaging program and/or any program which has a WinPE.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed
