Isso I have a feature request (it shouldn't be hard to implement).

I'd like to be able to create 2 shortcuts.
1st shortcut (=quick backup): when double-clicked it should create an automatic type incremental and when finished should return AX64 to its previous state (closed if automatic backups are disabled or to the tray if it was active before doubleclicked).
2nd shortcut (=quick restore to the latest snapshot): when doubleclicked should always restore to the last snapshot without opening the browser.

They can be handy when we are installing software or simply messing around and do not won't to have the automatic backups enabled.
    Doubleclick= temp backup
-> install software and test it -> Doubleclick= revert to our previous configuration

Wouldn't it be more flexible to offer command line parameters so you can create various shortcuts you want?

No, only the usual Norton Internet Security checking. I think that program would be a good addition, if it is some freeware that ISSO found.

Yes, it doesn't have to be complicated command line options. Just switches
    e.g.
    "ax64.exe -ab" = autobackup
    "ax64.exe -ar" = autorestore

and maybe one for autorestore and power off instead of reboot
"ax64.exe -ar -p" = autorestore and power off

Doesn't have to be complicated, but since this is obviously something for the power users. Isso, go wild. We'll find uses for it. :)

I'm getting the "Backup error C100000A code 1" error after doing a "repair install" of Windows 7 Home Premium. Is there any way to fix it? If so, how?

    Hello Zero3K,

That error usually means the AX64 driver is not installed. You can try uninstalling AX64 and then reinstalling first disabling any security software you have that may be blocking the driver installation. During install you should get a pop-up in regards to the driver installation. Also you may want to refer to this post https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2175904&postcount=54 where Isso gives a few things to check. HTH...

The driver is installed and is running according to Process Hacker. I checked that post and the mentioned registry entries are present in my registry. Also, I don't get any popups when it comes to installing drivers unless it isn't signed. Then I get a "do you want to install this driver?" prompt. Could a corrupted tracking database be causing the error?

Is it possible that there was a Windows update before the larger than expected snap (or updates of any other kind)?

I have no idea what you are referring to when you say "some freeware that ISSO found."

    Hello,

I am sorry that did not help. I am sure Isso can provide more information on that error the next time he is here. Your verification of those two registry keys should help him in troubleshooting.

Windows did NOT do any updates as I do them manually.

OH, ISSO posted back a bit that there was a program he has that can tell us what items were included in the file that is only 1.5GB or so. I assume it can just make the log easy to read?

Now I understand, I am sorry I could not be of more help, but I expect Isso will.

Here is the reference to the program Isso mentioned. I expect a number of us would like to get a copy so Isso, if you could provide the link, that would be great.

    Quick questions:
What happens if I shrink the protected partition? Will AXTM just continue to work? What if I restore a point in time when the partition was bigger? What happens to the second partition that I might have created in the free space?

    Hi Panagiotis

Great idea...but may I humbly suggest that you go over to http://feedback.ax64.com/forums/206143-general and raise this suggested feature there. That way they are all in one place for Isso & the Development Team to consider and other users can help the process by voting for their favourite suggestions...a quick way to bring them the right focus. :D

There is also the option for users to leave comments about the suggested feature...so that would allow any follow on views, as already expressed here, to be captured all in one place...making life so much easier for Isso. ;)

    Regards, Balders

Hi Mike! AX64 TM cannot restore into a different sized partition than the one it's monitoring with it's snapshots.

If you're planning partition work, you should uninstall, do your work, then reinstall to reinitialize a new tracking file. Your old snaps will be "browsable" but will not be restorable except into a new disk via COLD restore.

Isso may correct me on this.

Not really for power users. I had in mind the users that like light virtualization such as shadow defender, deepfreeze, etc. The functionality is different but the result will be the same.
    Hi Balders,

I went ahead and posted it here http://feedback.ax64.com/forums/206...-shortcuts-for-quick-backup-and-quick-restore

Is a snapshot merely the difference between "it" and the previous snapshot? I assume it is, however, I ask because the backup times have increased by around 10 seconds (no big deal, from the 30s to 50s for the last three). Now admittedly, there may have been greater changes on the PC between those snapshots. Or possibly is it changes since the baseline each time? Thank you!

Correct a new snapshot is the difference of the current state with the last snapshot in the chain.

Yes, that is the one. I hope he can make it available as I believe that a lot of us would like to see just what did change.

This software fails to install on my Windows XP SP3 ..
I get some windows error messages as soon as the setup starts, and the setup file is not corrupt.
Have downloaded it like 10 times already..
Here's screenshot of the first error message...
Am I missing something on my computer cause I fail to find any specific system requirements on the app homepage.. ?

I am using XP Pro 32 bit SP3 and it does install OK. You might try to disable your antivirus program to see if that helps.

Another reason could be that maybe your CPU does not support SSE2. I have this issue on a very old Intel Coppermine CPU which only supports MMX and SSE.

    Cheers
