    Thanks Isso,

FYI, I tried disabling AppGuard and Zemana Antilogger as I thought one of these might block AX64 as AppGurad does with AX64 restores on the XP machine but the problem remained the same.

    Hi,
I currently use TrueImage 2010. I was contemplating replacing it with EasUs ToDo Backup, but have now come across AX64 Time Machine. I am currently on Windows XP.

    Two questions.
    1) Any comments/suggestions on which of these backup software to use?
    2) Would AX64 Time Machine play nicely with Acronis/Easus?

    Thanks

I haven't been using AX much up to now as I am waiting for the multi partition version to come out. But I suspected I had a virus and realised just how good and quick it was to install programs step by step until I encountered the problem. Restoring is so simple - but most of you know that!

I came across one anomaly which I don't understand. During one backup I left my eSATA drive connected. AX announced that the backup would take longer because of that. It was not being used for the backup.

To update this, the same thing happens when on the next backup the eSATA drive is not connected.

The question comes to mind is what happens if you restore an image contrary to the state is was stored in.

    Hi again,
Good question. I had deleted my earlier backups as I wanted "a fresh start" after having so many incrementals. I thought it was going to be easy.;)
So, I deleted my backups and then tried to make a new "original" backup. When it hung the first time, I deleted AX64 and the "hung" backup. After restoring my image, I once again tried to delete AX64 and its backups. Then reinstalled and tried to make a second "original" backup.
Then it hung again. After restoring my image, I wrote the note to you about the process "hanging".
I just assumed it was because of my UEFI and GPT. I'm just patiently awaiting the build where those features should be included.
I understand I shouldn't have tried to "clean-up" my original and incremental files, now. I just made a mess for myself.:p Just this nagging feeling remains that if I really needed it, AX64 wouldn't have helped me. I haven't even tried to make another original image because I need my computer for things other than "playing" right now. Maybe in a couple of days . . .
    Thanks, Chuck

I don't know if this helps, but I believe you should delete the AXTM folder as a unit from your ext. HD, and then you can create a new base line snapshot.

Hi Isso, Under "How Automatic hourly backups works" it says it should be
"keeping 3 last hourly backups, then 6-hour interval backups for the last day, daily backups for the last week,
weekly for the last month, monthly for last year, and yearly onwards"

I have AXTM installed on 3 different systems, with hourly backup enabled, and I don't get all the daily backups for the last week.
I have 1 day and 2 day, but then the next oldest backups are manual backups that are 5 days or a week old.

And the 2 day old backups seem to be too big - 2 -3 GB - like older ones are getting merged into them.
I'm wondering if doing manual backups is confusing the automatic hourly backups.

I use both AXTM and Acronis 10 on my Win7 pro 64bit machine. They play fine together but some day I may stop using Acronis. AXTM seems all inclusive to me.

I think it's a typo. I think it's should be daily backups for the current week.

    Hi Isso

When I last tried both of these feature of ATI 2013 I found both rather slow and ponderous when compared with AXTM...and that is the reason I did not use them but rather used RB Rx.

IMHO opinion AXTM is a much more streamlined & elegant solution.

    Regards, and respect

I have the same symptoms (reported to Isso already). However in my case backup size seems to be logical (i.e. old ones are progressively bigger than new ones). I haven't done any manual backups (other than the baseline).

I also have a single backup that actually was retained past the 3 day mark for some reason (I made a full restore around the time of that backup, which might be connected, however I also recently made another full restore and it had no effect on backup retention).

    I'm on Win7 x64 - you?

    bgoodman,

I tried on 3 more test machines, and everything works fine. I'll see if I can find a way to figure out what's wrong with your system.

    Hi jkmblogs,

I'll let the others answer the first question, as for the second - there should be no problems, I received no compatibility issues so far with those programs.

    Hi Chuck,

I see, thank you. It's best always to take a backup and restore it - just to make sure everything works. Hope the next version will work fine for you

    Hi rjbu

As Marc mentioned, it's a mistake, I'll correct it. Please post a screenshot of you backup folder - I may be able to comment on big backup.

Thank you Baldrick! I will install ATI and check to see maybe we can learn something from them anyway.

    taotoo,

If a backup is retained, then it's most likely a manual backup. Please send to me a screenshot of the backup folder and the Browser and I'll check if it looks ok. Thank you

    Hi Isso,

Are there any plans to add the ability to encrypt the image and snapshot files? I looked through the user manual and did not see this mentioned.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Yes, we have such plans, although I can't give any time frame at this moment, sorry. BTW image and snapshot files are the same, i.e. taking an image or taking a snapshot is the same operation.
