Firstly, I greatly appreciate what you guys are contributing to everyone in this informative forum. Thanks.

My Internet Explorer 6.0 has kept popping up the Error Reporting screen and reverting the browser back to my homepage since 2 days ago, making surfing a fustrating experience.

I read many of the postings and advice here and have gone on to do the followings:

    1. I downloaded the Spybot Search & Destroy, and scanned and fixed the problems (in red).

    2. I downloaded the HijackThis and scanned my system. The log is attached below.

May I enquire if I'm safely rid of the Error Reporting probelm now? Kindly advise and I thank you very much in advance.

    Hi cavebat,

I don't see any apparent problems in your log.
If you get another error from IE could you post the details please?
Maybe that will put us on track.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Thanks for viewing my log.

I just typed in www.yahoo.com and half way through the page loading up, IE popped up a screen

"Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

    Restart MS IE

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

We have created an error report....."

Then there are 2 choices of whether to "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send".

I clicked "Send" a few times already. Clicking either buttons reverts the browser back to my homepage.

I encountered the same problem at Adware website so couldn't download Adware. Luckily, it wasn't the same experience at Spybot's.

What do you think hit my system?

    Thanks in advance.

msvcrt.dll could be corrupted. Extract that file from the windows 98 CD
Extracting Files From the Windows CD .cab Files

You may have to register the file by clicking:
    Start > Run > type or copy&paste regsvr32.exe msvcrt.dll > OK

    Regards,

    Pieter
