Internet Connection Help!!!

i dono if this is the right place to post this, but anyways...

recently my internet has been acting weird, only for my computer tho, the other computers in my network are working fine. what happens is everytime i restart my computer as soon as i get back to my desktop the internet works for like 10-20 seconds, aim automatically starts up and i can browse for a bit, then it just stops working, altho the connection seems to be fine, no more packets are being sent, however aim still works, but nothing else. its a really weird problem, once in a while the internet will come back for a few hours, then it will randomly go out again. again this is only happening to my computer, all the other computers internet is fine. i have norton anti-virus 6, i scanned and found nothing, i did ad-aware, spybot S&D and removed the spywares and adwares that i found. i look at my processes and i dont see anything out of the ordinary. i have Cable High speed RoadRunner. ive tried also disabling and then re-enabling my connection, and then the DHCP reassigns the same IP but no packets are received, so i really dont kno what to do and i beg for help!!!

Try swapping out your network card.

thx for the thought but my network card seems to be fine, and ive asked some friends of mine and they are quite skilled in networking and we wont over many things that could be the problem, and they are quite sure that the network card isnt the problem. if its the last resort however i will try it i guess. any other suggestions, please help

 

Did you install any new programs? I remember I had this problem once when I installed something and tinkered with the registry. :T

 

I've seen this before related to the network card, it is a very cheap simple option to try that may just fix the issue.

MrFrodo - have u tried running winsock xp fix and/or lspfix? also before switching network cards, try just removing and reinstalling the drivers or update them.

 

that would be me guess too, update your drivers

 

ive tried winsock xp fix, that didnt help though, but i didnt try isp fix. im not at my comp right now, but when i get home i will try reinstalling and updating the drivers of my networks card, thx for the help, ill see if it works and report back here soon.
