Can someone please tell me if there's a way to increase the Internet bandwidth for downloads (dial-up) by adjusting the internet settings? ...or can it be done in a different way?

    Thanks.

Difficult on dialup. Most of the time the bandwidth is limited by the quality of the connections you get in the phone lines and switching stations. Also depends on how much bandwidth your ISP is providing. THey can always provide more, but don't like to because of costs.
When I was on dialup, I tried all the progies that supposedly sped up download time as much as 50% and never noticed a thing.
One program that has helped some is Cablenut, which can be found here.
