Intel Security finally spins out as independent McAfee

    A $3.5 billion loss. Sure the stockholders are happy about that one.

    It is not a $3.5 billion loss. It was not a good investment, but it was not far from breaking even, with projections going forward predicting a windfall. The figures stated in that article are poorly stated. They sold off 51% of McAfee for over $3 billion in cash and equity. And since Intel is worth an estimated $150 billion, with many billions in cash reserves, they are not hurting.

    And as someone who has been buying through a DRIP, $50/month worth of Intel shares for many years, I assure you we are doing quite well.

    I think it was a bad idea trying to rename it to Intel Security, but I never really understood what Intel was trying to achieve with the takeover.
