Installed SpywareGuard, do I need to run a scan of some sort?

I just downloaded this product. I also have Spyware Blaster, SpyBot, Ad-Aware, MS Beta, hijackthis, 2-squared. Yesterday highjack this had me remove two line items, and in the moderators last post before closing the ticket, told me to install this program. I installed the whole big program, then noticed I should have only loaded the smaller program as I have XP running. Anyway, Do I need to run a scan? I used the utility to clean my systems of cookies, and sites, but don't know what else to do, if anything. My guess is it is just running, and monitoring any programs I open. Is this correct, or please let me know how to run a scan. Thanks. I also downloaded MRU Blaster, and ran it.

Spywareguard runs resident. There is no on demand scanner.
