Install latest cinnamon on ubuntu 12.04 LTS

this one is best option for those who have ubuntu LTS and dont want to formate their system and dont like new ubuntu as well so one more option they can add is this

 

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in a Virtualbox VM (normally I'm using Kubuntu 12.04) and added Cinnamon via that ppa. Not bad at all With Cinnamon installed, Ubuntu is becoming an alternative again. There is also a Cinnemon Extras ppa that offers Cinnamon applets, themes and extensions which is not yet available for Precise, though.

BTW: For the first time I stumbled upon the file manager emelFM2 which I had not known before. I'm impressed - it's fast, light and nevertheless feature-rich. A good alternative for Krusader for Gnome/Cinnamon.

 

Does it show Unity notifications after switching Cinnamon?

 

I've tested this over the weekend - fabulous. Gonna write an article, too.

cinnamon extra can be used in ubuntu as well did you try extracting applets and pasting them in

~/.local/share/cinnamon/applets/".
