Ok, I’ve got a dumb question. I won a free license for LooknStop in the Wilders 5000 person contest. The email I received from LooknStop said:

"… Wilders.org just informed us you won a free license of Look 'n' Stop, the personal firewall software.

To get your serial number, you need to install the software and send us the Look 'n' Stop code which is displayed in the registration page of the running application…"

How are they going to know it’s me and not someone just trying out the firewall for the free 30 day trial? Thank you.

(But first I’ve got to figure out how to get this #@$%!&* Norton Internet Security off my machine… it just doesn’t want to come off!)

    Hey Acadia

    Congratulations!

They are expecting a “response” to their E-mail. :)

What version of Norton Internet Security you using?

Thanks, PhantOM. I've got version 2.56 which I think was 2001 but I did find that uninstaller on the Symantec website late last night. I've downloaded it but not run it yet. I was tired and I have a feeling that this entire process is going to take a while. Thanks again.

Ok, I responded to their email, and all they said was to install the program; they gave me no serial number or code or anything. My original question remains, how are they going to tell the difference between us free licensers and those trialing for 30 days? (Maybe I should just go ahead and install and see what happens). Weekend coming up, hopefully I'll FINALLY get time to play with it.

They can’t give you License Informatics until after you Install the program and retrieve your Code Number # found in the “Register” screen and e-mail it to them…

But after 30 days when I register won't they want their money?

Hmm you don't need to wait for the Application to Expire, you can register at will...

But won't they still want their money? How will they know it's a free licenser who is registering? Maybe I should just shut up, do it, and see what happens. If I run into problems and they want to cancel my trial after 30 days I can always come here for help. Thanks.

Acadia, I also won a license for LnS. Registration works exactly as they say. Install, copy the code for your installation, e-mail it to LnS support using the reply function to their original e-mail, and they will send you the registration number, which you then paste into the serial number placeholder and click validate. They know who won their licenses by e-mail address.
    That worked for me.
