    As we move forward now that our 64-Bit pre-release seems stable and will become an official release, we want to know what our users feel would help improve SUPERAntiSpyware. We would appreciate honest feedback from those looking to improve SUPERAntiSpyware.

    Remember the key features of our 4.38 Pre-Release are:

    * 32/64 bit blended installer in a single package - the installer installs the proper version for your Operating System
    * TRUE NATIVE 64-bit support - many other products work in 64-bit but don't actually scan or remove 64-bit components
    * Safe Mode Installation Ability

    Pre-Release Location
    http://www.superantispyware.com/prerelease.html

    Questions

    1. What features would make SUPERAntiSpyware easier to use?
    2. What would add "value" to SUPERAntiSpyware Professional besides the real-time and scheduling?
    3. What annoys/bothers you most about SUPERAntiSpyware - what can we do change that?
    4. What can we add to SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition to make in a more effective tool in the fight against malware?
    5. Other suggestions and comments?
    6. If you don't use SUPERAntiSpyware - what would make it worth using/trying?

    Remember that we do keep EVERY suggestion logged on our "wish list" - we can't get to everything, but we will try and provide the features that the majority of our users want - this also doesn't mean that the other suggestions aren't valid, it just means there is only a certain amount of time in a day to accomplish the tasks!

    Hi Nick,

    I brought this up on your own forum but to reiterate, I think that an inidcator in the tray icon is necessary to show whether real-time protection is on or not. This can be something like the bug turning red or having a slash through it or just being able to check status by hovering over the icon with the mouse.

    As a "pro" owner myself, I'd like to start reading independent (unbiased) test results indicating that SAS is picking up the majority of threats it's exposed to (and prepared to effectively remove them from one's system). Lately it seems there have been a slew of negative test results posted on various boards and it's a bit disconcerting.

    Thanks for taking pains to improve the product. :thumb:

    Well done on 64bit build pre release.
    Question 6: make sure it detects faster and removes more than other apps in its class. To me all else is secondary

    The problem with "tests" is that a real test is how an application does over the "years" not just "single tests" meaning how fast does a company act, react and handle zero-day threats.

    In today's world, A Single Solution is NOT Enough - so running SUPERAntiSpyware in addition to an anti-virus and possible another extra "layer" is the real way to keep yourself protected.

    We receive 10's of thousands of threats a week, as does every other company - while there is some overlap, there is also many unique items, thus a single product can't catch "everything".

    The indicator icon will be in one of the next two public releases, FYI.

    Thanks. I know I've brought it up a few times in the past and am glad to see that it will get incorporated.

    And thanks again for making the effort on the other, larger issues.

    Question 4: A faster (yet very effective) quick scan, say ten minutes or less.

    Otherwise, keep up the good work!

    Just one little thing I see is that you need to update your copyright to 2010! :D And working well on Win 7 64bit! Also will it self update like it always has with this pre-release version to the final version? And how about cleaning of the cookies in other browsers like Firefox, Opera and Chrome?

    TIA,

    TH

    We have Firefox and Chrome supported now, it may be in 4.38, but might go in 4.39 after testing. It'll be in the pre-release build tomorrow :)

    I have been using SAS PRO for a number of years now real time. I think a new snappier GUI is in order after all this time. Not necessary, but would be nice. The only problem I have ever experienced and still do, is a delayed shut down at times. I will shutdown my computer, and during the process a dialog box will appear saying something like SAS is shutting down along with a progress bar and a end now box. It will shut down in maybe 20 additional seconds, and the computer shutdown will complete. Other than that, it's a real keeper. :)

    I don't like the tray icon. I would rather see a shield or even better; something unique like a diamond. The bug looks unprofessional to me. I have a lifetime License, but don't use it because i don't like the bug lol Also as already stated by someone else above it would be nice if the tray icon indicated if the real-time protection agent was enabled.

    I have been using the free and then Pro version for some years.(I was a member once of the SuperAntispyware forums but got lost in the translation/deleted)

    However, I only use it on demand, mainly to check downloads of new program installers, etc.

    Hardly ever run a quick scan since it takes over a hour on my system because of the number of snapshots(FD-ISR).

    Also, they(quick scans) never find anything...an since I switched to broadband, I am online basically 24/7. LOL, I sleep, but the computer doesn't. ;)

    P.S. I would like to see incremental updates as something to consider. I only update every 24 hrs, so as not to waste bandwidth.

    Thanks for the feedback - so I understand correctly, even if the product is effective, you would rather not use it and risk being infected because you don't like the tray icon?

    We wanted to use something different as so many products use shields, etc. etc.

    I have one lifetime license and an annual license. Here's my suggestions fwiw-

    1. I had trouble scanning my FAT32 external hard drive with SAS. I was told by SAS support that issue may be resolved in the future although I have not tried it in a few months. So, if not yet fixed, scanning FAT32 drives would be nice;

    2. I would like SAS to be able to have context menu scanning without having to have the program running. MBAM is able to do this somehow and it wouldn't bother me if it meant a service had to be running in the background;

    3. I think the GUI could use a little work in the color scheme, or at least allow skins available for download. As many SAS users as there are I'm sure there would be plenty of people designing skins- maybe keep them in the SAS forum somewhere;

    4. I do not like the $9.99 one day only advertisement. IMO it takes away from the credibility of the product.

    That's all I can think of as of now.

    Nooooooooo!!!!!! Not the tray icon argument again!!!!

    I can't really think of any changes. Flashier GUI's don't matter to me. One change I would like to see tho is the way it updates. Haven't used it in LUA for quite a while but if I remember correctly there was an issue with it updating while logged into a LUA account.

    SAS is a nice app. I have several paid licenses. I also appreciate the portable version. It has come in handy several times!

    That said, I have a few thoughts...

    Incremental updates and change the update process so that it updates all user accounts on the PC.

    Separate updates are a pain and on slow dialup, needing a full definition set each time takes forever.

    I should have been more clear - we have it in in-house testing and it may go into the 4.38 pre-release/release.

    LOGO - Change logo, over at www.99designs.com you can get very good logo for $500. Your current logo looks outdated. Same with your web site.

    Corect yellow color, make it more orange since orange is complement color to blue, not yellow. It will look better.

    Make software updates automatic. Why? Since im reseller I see many of my customers does not click Upgrade link, they dont know what is it or if they need to do it or not...

    Make bad web site blocker.

    Make SCAN and UPDATE buttong big, other buttons small.

    Make quick scan faster.

    When we download SAS from your site it should be already up-to-date. Often malware block internet access...

    I would change user interface as well, make it modern like Norton AV or Avast in Brown color, its just trend and people expect it, they dont care what some tech thinks about it.. ;)

    If you correct yellow logo and make it more toware orange it will go with brown interface. Or use Win7 style interface.

    People judge software by how it looks and how it works, not only how it works.
