It scans awful fast, it doesn't exactly make you feel like it's "lock down" security or anything. I wouldn't use it as standalone at all.

I think the "scan" is just a flash scan of what is currently running in memory. It seems to scan the rest of the files on access. I haven't read anything that suggests it might be, for example, doing a full scan once per day or week, etc.

I guess that makes sense. I hope it proves to be useful, I do like the idea of being able to run it beside my existing AV, it involves the cloud as well so....I guess we'll have to see what the tests say.

The new engine ETHOS and the final version with a lot of improvements, remember that we are in beta now.

    From the blog http://blog.immunet.com/ :

Our generic engine is ETHOS; we have another planned for May, which is called SPERO.

Does this apply for the Immunet/ClamAV version as well? Personally I love it. The only thing I would change is it needs to have a deep scanning mode. The little 30 second "running processes & loadpoint processes" or whatever scan it does needs to be expanded.

    Watasha,

Version 2.0 will have expanded scanning (right click context, custom, full drive etc) as well as scheduled scanning. Also, SPERO will be in as well.

As a note to other Wilders users, while I am a fan of Wilders I generally don't get much time to read it. If you have questions our forum at community.immunet.com is a good place to start. I try to read that a few times a say.

BoerenkoolMetWorst is correct. This CLAMAV - Immunet thread has been closed, to keep all discussions in one place, this older thread. Thanks!

They have a beta getting started. From the little I know it looks very good. Like Panda there will be a free and a paid product.

The Immunet team is working on two exciting new products, Immunet Protect Free (2.0 upgrade from today's beta product), and Immunet Protect Plus with advanced protection. Both products are scheduled to be released in early June.

Immunet Protect will continue to be FREE, fast, light on resources, and easy to use and to share. You'll still be able to run Immunet Protect alongside other AV products if you choose, but it will also include higher efficacy and improved real-time performance for users who choose to run Immunet Protect on its own.

That article is a pretty good read. I like the premise of immunet but the raise some good concerns. Why run two AV's together? When is enough with adding multiple programs on a system? What about the privacy of uploading your files to be "checked"?

The privacy question is a good one. With our product there is a level of participation which is required, we need to hit the cloud for file lookups. We can turn off file uploads (and allow you to do so in 2.0) but otherwise still 'call home'. The other products you use are likely the same, they will allow you to shut off file uploads but still call home for instrumentation, updates etc. If you use two, you will have more data sent away into the nether, definitely. Is the data anything you need to worry about? I think not, but that is obviously a judgment you need to make for yourself.

There is a closed beta (hopefully) around the 15th. General release is early June.

I stopped reading that interview as soon I noticed they didn't want to recognize the Quorum infrastructure of Norton. Guess they think it would hurt that interview - so why even bring up Norton? McAfee is also big - pick on them, as long as it's true. Less respect from my side because of this PR bs.

Wonder the same thing. If I'm allowed to, I would like to receive a PM with the details for testing. ;)

I think when you join the Immunet Community, and they contact you via e-mail, then they will send link if you wish to join closed beta.
