I tried this the other day (with my primary A-V Avast 5 Free) but numerous times Firefox would not open links. Verified it was Immunet because when I'd enable gaming mode the links would open. Have un-installed it but can see the point of this "extra" protection and may try it again sometime.

Pedersen - I am trying Immunet Protect and under the exclusion, this is what it shows:
    exclusion.jpg

Is this something you folks added by default? I don't have Avira, Avast or even Avast running at this time.

Can I remove all 8 of them or ?

Yes, we have added them to avoid any problems.
I would suggest to at least leave the Immunet protect folder, windows prefetch and CatRoot2 in exclusion. The rest you can do what you want with ;)

Thanks like you I'm using trusteer, and am looking for a light , full protection AV,
I have the paid Prevx on another machine and it's good, but would like a true email scanner and the backup of a offline av if the nets down.

languy99, the Jethro Bodine of forensic analysis, kludges through another copy/paste and mouse click session with the skills of an eight-year-old and fails to see the "Quarantined File History" in the View By pull down.

Maybe, but anyhow, he ran MBAM and Hitman Pro after that, and MBAM found amazing 41 infections, Hitman rootkits ...

I guess he failed with that but MBAM succeeded and found more than 40 malwares including a ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ rootkit :p

Ofcourse his tests suck all over the place, but I also found that Dropdown for Quarantine History an odd place, I wouldn't have found it, since there is also a difference in removing and quarantining.
Also languy99 seems like a real sucker, since he doesn't know what the TDSS/Alureon rookit was Hitman Pro found, he didn't pay any attention to it rofl.
Also languy is testing all the Comodo **** programs like System Cleaner and Uninstaller I see. How can he still be stating that is impartial?
Also he always says that he allows firewall alerts, I saw him do different at a Comodo video :D.

But Immunet Protect Plus failed, it can't replace an av as main program like Immunet is advertising with. It could be quite usefull as second realtime program but that is a no go for me. Also I find the "xxx.exe was installed" messages all the time strange. It just notifies but does nothing. One of those series with messages (.exe, .tmp, and .sys) was the installation of alureon rootkit.

I think the main conclusion of Languy's videos is. That Hitman Pro is the best, it always finds a rootkit or trojan in the end, or even more.

Yes, his tests are not that good, in addition to what others already have noted, he also didn't notice that MBAM detected the TDSS rootkit everytime and couldn't remove it. After every test he also counts every modified registry key found by MBAM as an infection..
Hopefully Immunet will be in more professional tests like AV-C soon so we can come to better conclusions, but it does seem it still needs to be improved quite a lot.

Those notifications are off by default and can be turned on by switching Verbose Tray Notifications to on ;)

Because I am curious, I will try my question (from post #194) one last time: “In what ways is Immunet Protect different from (better than) its competition? Has Immunet Protect advanced the science of malware detection in theory or in practice? If so, how?”

The lack of response to this inquiry suggests that Immunet Protect may be "yet another anti-virus" -- which doesn't necessarily imply that the product may not provide good protection, but does raise the issue of how it will compete against other mature and established vendors.

    Thank you. :)

    Toolbar

In a couple of weeks I have to look at figuring out whether I put back in the ASK Toolbar in a format that is more acceptable to our Community. After consulting with a dozen people privately I believe the best solution is a simple one:

Make it Opt In only and make sure the install panel pauses so users cannot power through it and miss it somehow. In the proposed format a user would have to implicitly select it to install it.

I'd like to get feedback on whether this is acceptable to most people here.

Please note that that not having a toolbar is not an option for us so while I appreciate some of you take a dim view to anything other than purely free software, I cannot oblige you, as I am somewhat taken with being able to eat and pay rent.

    Feedback is welcome.

    Best,
    al

    Re: Toolbar

This option would be acceptable...But by default it should not be checked...that's what everybody wants. By the way why you still opting ASK toolbar? Why don't you go for other options like Yahoo or Google..You can also integrate Google Chrome option like Avast in your free version, that's also IMO is acceptable with many guys...

    Re: Toolbar

Then the answer is simple: offer a paid version only at a "reasonable" price that most can afford. That way you get paid to allow you "to eat and pay rent" & users have a product free of a toolbar. (I know they can get this now with the Pro version, but hey, why not just offer the one at a cheap & cheerful price? You benefit & so do the users.)
