I took an image of boot partition, stored it on second HDD. Reformatted Primary HDD, restored the image. All files seem to be there in order, yet will not boot.

You didn't get the MBR included in your image because you need to do *all* partitions, not just the active partition to retain the MBR with Acronis. However, if you are using the *same* hard drive that you imaged from, you still should have the MBR retained even though you did format the drive. But if you don't get a boot into Windows, you will now have to use your WinXP boot disk (assuming that is the OS), and go to repair and enter "fixMBR" and maybe also "fixboot" on the drive to restore the MBR. There is also a CD link on the forum for a bootable repair MBR disk. Some say you can also use a Win98 2nd Ed. boot disk and then "fdisk /MBR" and it will also work according to some M$ "guru's" from the M$ usenet groups.
